Hoping for some good news but prepared for the worst

Hi folks,

Today, we will be taking Freckles in for a checkup to see if the new chemo has helped. Right now, Freckles is in discomfort but she seemed to have perked up. She is pretty fiesty. We have blocked the staircase so she could not go up but instead she knocked down the blockade. Today she was determined to get up on to our bed!!!! Even though we have setup a bedroom for her downstairs and I've been sleeping on an air mattress! She has been using an appetite stimulant and that seems to have helped. With her starting to eat so much better.. She is getting stronger.

I'm exhausted as well as my husband but we are just in awe at the strength of this dog. She is a fighter all the way. We don't think it is her time yet but we are preparing. I'm sure she will let us know.

I hope that the results are positive but I am prepared for the worst!

Thanks again for all your support.

Take care!!

news about Sayge

Hi all,
Sayge had her splenectomy last Thursday and pulled through great. I brought her home on Friday and she is back to her old self. The doctor didn't see any evidence of spread in any of her organs. Then today the biopsy result came back and it is definitely hemangiosarcoma which is really bad news. We are all devastated. We are going to take it one day at a time and see how far she can go. I am pretty sure I am not going to do chemo. I feel like it is buying time and I watched my mom go that way (ovarian CA) and it was soooo hard.
I am glad that Freckles is feeling much better. I was afraid to go on the forum over the week because you said that Freckles wasn't doing well and if anything worse happened I don't think I could have handled it. Sayge and I are wishing her the best and hoping she is comfortable.
All of you are so supportive of each other. It helps to know that others are in the same situation...
Please keep me updated on Freckles and I will do the same with Sayge. It is a very emotional time for me so if I don't get on every day, that is why.

to Denise or Elyse

Do you guys remember a post about a boxer who had the hemangiosarcoma removed and lived for several months but then got hit by a school bus? I have tried to find that post but I can't now. I read it on here when the April posts were available when I first joined. Let me know if you remember anything. Thanks.

Good News and Bad News

Hi Folks,
Well the oncologist gave us good news and bad news. 3 of the mass tumors shrunk a bit but one of them grew. YEESSHHH!! Her main organs are doing fine. Freckles is such a fighter.

Right now, with all the drugs that she is taking.. she doesn't feel well and doesn't want to eat much.

Anybody have any suggestions of any types of dinners I can cook for her? I am up to peanut butter with tuna, cottage cheese and peanut butter, chicken with rice, chicken liver, rice and chicken...

I appreciate all the support. She is still fighting and we are just taking it day by day.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Hugs and slobbery kisses from Freckles, Pepper and Denise

So happy to hear the good news. Keep fighting Freckles!!! As for food, we give Nestle hard boiled eggs. We mash up the white with half the yolk in her kibble and she goes nuts over it. Tuna and Peanutbutter? Together? They really do eat anything!!
