Freckles and Hemangiosarcoma - Needs heeling Vibes!!!

Hi Folks,

Just wanted to say thank you for all the support. Freckles has taken a turn for the worst. We just got back from the oncologist and the hemangiosarcoma has spread to her abdomen. They found 4 mass tumors and they are bleeding.

The chemo has stopped due to her white blood count is too low. Right now, we are keeping her comfortable and hoping that the protocol of tomaxifen and doxycycline will work for a while.

Hope all is well.. Please say a prayer for my baby.

Oh Denise, I'm so sorry to hear this! I can't believe it! Your girl was doing so well. Don't get discouraged. This is really your first set-back and maybe things will turn around for Freckles. Don't give up--you guys fight this. I will say an extra special prayer for you and Freckles tonight, and I will ask Cadence to take extra special good care of her for you. Please don't give up yet. Thank you Nicole for your big hug!! It is a set back and this one is tough. We are hoping she gets thru the night. The oncologist wants to try another chemo drug. It is experimental and she uses it as a last ditch effort. We just need her to get her white blood cells up!! We have been crying so much today - my face is hurting. The entire family has stopped by to check on Freckles. It was killing us. Usually she will get up and start licking everyone's faces. She was so subdued. She would not get up to greet anyone. This indicates to all of us of how sick she is. We are losing our baby and we are hoping for a miracle.

We are still fighting and hope that she stops bleeding so that her red and white blood count will go up.

So far the cancer has not spread to the heart, lungs and stomach. She is still strong but just really tired. She did not sleep at all last night because we were in the hospital for so long.

Denise, I am so sorry. I feel like I know Freckles and have a knot in my stomach right know. She is such a fighter. She has been doing so well and like Nicole said, this is her first set back. Don't usually say a prayer but I will say one for Freckles. I can't imagine what you are feeling right now and I so sorry. Know that you both will be in our thoughts. ((((HUGS)))) to both of you.

Just started a new chemo medicine

Hi Folks,

Just got back from the oncologist. Freckles reabsorbed the blood back into her system and is back to normal. The oncologist is trying a new chemo medicine on Freckles called Gemzar (gemcitabine).. Has anyone heard of this?This is soooooooo expensive. She is hoping that this will control the tumors and possibly shrink them. Then the next chemo session will be cytoxan.

I am just hoping that this will work along with the tomaxefin and doxycycline. We are hoping a few more months with Freckles and then we will have to let her go. This is very hard but I am grateful that she is still with us.

She is very strong and is quite inspirational. She is so happy go lucky and just loves to see her oncologist.

My husband and I are just so sad that we will not have too much more time with her. It is hard to be at work.

Anyhow, hope all is well.

Freckles, this message is for you. You have truly touched the hearts of my family. We have read all of mommy's posts from the beginning and you have been a big topic of discussion in our home.

I am so happy you are back to yourself. I am going away for a couple of days, don't have internet access and am not allowed to bring my laptop (spa getaway thing) so I need you to be really strong and I am excited to come home Saturday night and hear you are kicking a some butt and taking care of mommy!!!!
