Don't know about you, but I just LOVE it when my babies starting "play-fighting" with each other. They look like crazy vicious dogs, but in fact they are just playing what I call a head-game. They curl their lips back and move their head back and forth really fast, all the while making a funny growly sound, and trying to "bite" each other (not hard). Does anyone else know what I am talking about?

My 2 (boxer and rottie) play like that all the time. Sounds vicious, but it's SO cute! When they've had enough, they lay down and cuddle or groom each other. :D

That's true! Mine do that too. My female likes to lick my male's ears, INSIDE!! It kind of wigs me out, but she likes it, and he seems to love it. I can't imagine just having one anymore, 2 is so much more fun. Expensive, but fun!

My boxer and my rottie play the same way, I call it face fighting! they try and grab each other and the noise!!! Iusually put them outside to continue they usually end up licking each other.

I have a silver boxer, shes 11 now, and a 9 month old female pup. They go through that ritual several times a day. Laying on the floor nose to nose.
When anyone sees/hears it they think that something terrible is happening. But they have never actually done anything more then get slobber all over each other. The growling gets really intense, but the whole act is usually over in a couple of minutes, until they get board again and start all over. And either one of them may start it. its not just the pup.

Ours play like this a lot too. Sometimes inside the house sometimes outside the house in our fenced back yard. Ours are really, really vocal when playing like this. Sometimes it can be really loud. Every now and then a neighbor that is out walking will ask us if a "murder" is being committed outside in the back yard. We just laugh and tell them our 2 boxers are just playing. They are shocked that it is all "play"--took me awhile to get used to it, but they really do love each other. Paula

Harley & Zoe mouth like this too. It's a riot, especially knowing that they're not even hardly touching each other! I agree, the noise is terrible. You'd think I was having dog fights in the house. Thank goodness my neighbors know me & the dogs well enough to know what's really going on LOL

Daisy and Rosco play like that all the time. The only thing that ever worries me is when they run and jump and hit each other. They,ve never hurt each other but they can sound vicious. When frriends and family first witness it they seem to get a little scared.

Chewy and Stella do this all the time. They lay on their sides, nose to nose, and try to bite at each other mouths. They don't exactly growl while doing this - it's more of a loud, funny, high-pitched whiney sound. It's really hilarious, and it's good to know ours aren't the only 2 goofballs that do this. :p
