Well, I have one sweet-blooded boxer babe on my hands! Layla gets bit by everything. We were outside tonight for 15 mins and she is covered in mosquito bites. She had a very severe reaction recently from fly bites so I gave her benedryl tonight and she seems to be fine.

I just started her on brewer's yeast w/ garlic tablets but I also saw "Fly's Off" repellent spray on PetSmart's website and was thinking of ordering that to see if it would help her. I feel so bad as she gets bit so quickly and I will try anything. I was just wondering if anyone else tried this spray and if it is safe and effective?? She gets bit by the flys at a doggie daycare we take her to and I did not want to use citronella oils as I heard that could repell other dogs as well and just wondering if this spray will also repell the dogs??

Please help my bumpy babe!!

Thanks,
Taryn

I use it on my girls here in OK. The flys are thick here and bug the heck out of Maggie in particular. And they leave whelts on her as well. So we use that product and it works very well indeed.

I find it even works for about 3 days, without having to re-spray. The only think I note is that the dogs tend to sneeze a couple of times after I put it on. It does have a "smell" to it and I'm not fond of it either and can certainly understand their sneezing from it. But once outside, they are fine. And I've not noticed any ill effects from them playing with it on, or grooming each other (as they do that a lot before nap time), or any reaction to it other than it DOES keep flys/mosquitoes/gnats, etc. off of them and they do sneeze when it is applied.

I also make sure I never get any of it in their eyes. But in general I feel safe using it and continue to do so during fly/mosquitoe/bug season. :)

Thanks so much Dan!!

I feel much better knowing someone else has used it(since I just ordered it online)!! Wow--three days?? I would be happy with 30 mins of peace for her outside!! I'll tolerate the smell so long as she can play in peace without the scary allergic reactions.

Here's hoping...

Thanks again for the feedback!

I use it on Mickey, too. It seems to work, but I have to re-spray each time he comes in and goes out, wears off pretty fast. It's the only thing I've found that works, though.
