Boxer Pal
We have a 5 year old cock-a-poo that was not crate trained and has roam of the house. We just got a 9 week old boxer pup and tried the same training with her. We "attempted" to gate her in the kitchen day one and found out she is quite the escape artist. Came home to find her and the old dog asleep on the sofa together. So we left her be, nothing was detroyed and only a few minor accidents.
However, our old dog is a little stressed by the new pup and the constant wanting to play. After talking to a few of our friends with boxers everyone highly recommended crate training. So we bought a crate 2 days ago and have reluctatnly put her in everyday before work. We come home to find a complete mess of poop flung outside of the cage... all of her toys, blankets, etc are covered. My boyfrined got home first yesterday and I thought he was just being a typical man and over exaggerating becuase he didn't want to clean it up. But flinging poop doesn't even begin to describe the mess! All I can say is really glad we didn't get a white boxer!
We come home at lunch to let her out, we let her out before we leave in the morning, and she does not have food in the crate, only water.
We keep laughing its like the monekys at the zoo. It was cute the first day now its just gross. When she was outside the crate she never once pooped in the house but the crate has seme dot bring the "monkey" out of her. Anyone else with the same problem or any suggestions?
