My heart goes out to you. It is always difficult to lose one of our "friends", but it is especially difficult to lose one so young. There is never a good time for these things to happen, but it is even more difficult at the time of year when we look forward to family and friends.
I remember how our holidays were following the loss of our first Boxer, Rocky, two years ago between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was a very subdued holiday season.
May you be comforted knowing that you did all you could for him. Such is life, we have to accept the bitter as well as the sweet. May you find some comfort in the days ahead.
Hopefully you will get another, not to replace Finley, but to fill the void his passing left in your home.
It was so difficult for us when we lost Rocky, we debated about getting another, and should we live long enough, having to go through losing another. But our home was so morbid and seemingly lifeless that we did get another (Indy) and about a year later another (Ava).
Sympathies from Indy, Ava, and me.
Tom
