Female Humping?

My girl Riley (10 mos/spayed) always tries to hump my boyfriend. She only does it to him...I have never seen her try to do it to another dog or person. I have heard that dogs hump to show dominance. Is this true? Why would she only do it to him?

She's probably jealous. My boston terrier would hump legs whenever I kissed or hugged my boyfriend. I guess he just wanted to get in on the action!

It's an obnoxious habit that can be broken (and too few people bother to break). Obviously you stop her at the first opportunity, then boyfriend can take a moment and do some obedience work with her. Nothing special, just a sit for a cookie, or do a trick -- something that requires her to focus and respond to HIM. Giving her attention BEFORE she makes her move is the next step, so she doesn't start viewing it as her way to get his attention on her.
