feeding a beagle

I know some of you have beagles out there. I haven't found a site like BoxerWorld for any other breed, and I have a feeding question about my beagle.

I am feeding Nutro Natural Choice lite, and just switched from Iams weight control. Both bags say to feed a 20-30 lb dog 2.5 cups a day. I usually feed my beagle 1 to 1.5 C per day, and she seems fine on that. I know other beagle owners who feed that same amount. She is not overweight, but like most beagles she has a tendancy to gain, so I keep her on weight control. And again like most other beagles, she snarfs her food no matter if she is hungry or not, so I can't tell if she really is hungry and not getting enough food.

My beagle is 30 lbs, 16 inches tall. She is big for a beagle but not overweight, although she was for a little while. I've never fed her more than 1.5 cups a day since after getting out of her puppy stage of growth.

How much do you feed your beagle? Is that consistent with what the bag says? How big is your beagle? Overweight or not?

I feed Eagle Holistic select to all my dogs...Everyone seems to do good on it and doesn't seem to cause flair ups with Mallery's allergies....My beagles range in height from 11" to 15" and on average are fed 1-3 cups a day....Do you feed just one meal or two? As long as she looks good and acts healthy you're doing fine....I only use what the package says as a guideline but modify that by the way each dog looks....Some get fat on air and others can't keep weight on.....also if she is snarfing her food down if you don't already I would put some water in the food bowl when she eats....I usually just put enough to cover the food. It slows them down a little and will also help to prevent bloat.....

I feed two meals a day of 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food. I put a little water in her bowl just to make a tastey little gravy, not for slowing her down. Maybe I will add more water and try that. I can't imagine anything will slow her down, but I will try. I didn't think beagles were prone to bloat. I just figure for a bigger beagle she should be eating more, but I'll just monitor to make sure she doesn't lose weight. Just don't want her to get to the point of looking too thin. She would hate me!! Thanks for the info.

I feed my beagle 1 cup in the am nd 1 at night. And he too scarfs down his food like its his last meal and than he will circle the two boxers like a chicken hawk to see if they drop ay food on the floor.
He is 8yrs old and weighs about 30-33lbs. I have him on a senior food now but I rotate between senior and weight control.
