Our 9 month-old has the usual eye "sleepies" from the corners of his eyes that we just wipe away. But he gets them very, very often throughout the day. Is it normal to have so many of these "sleepies" so often or is there possibly something else going on here? Thanks for any and all responses!

We wipe eye "boogies" off Baylee about 10 times a day. In the morning, they're HUGE!!

I think it's just a boxer thing. Someimtes I'll wipe some off and look 5 minutes later and THERE THEY ARE AGAIN! :)

Hi jj~~
Sigmund has had the same issue before too. It was shortly after we renovated the studio and there was alot of dust even though we had vaccumed everything thouroughly.
Like Aimme mentioned, as long as they aren't greenish, yellowish, draining fluid, (running), or red, itching and swollen, it should be fine.
If you think it may be something enviornmental or allergens, you could try getting a solution from the vet that is like contact lens solution. It has the same natural saline content as the eye and it's used to soothe dry, tired, irritated or otherwise itchy eyes.
I hope this helps.

My four month boxer chick Sierra get's them big time in the mornings. I used to wipe them away, but it's more fun to watch her do it with her front paws/wrists... it's cute. She sits down rubbing her eyes with her paws bent over. I'll have to snap a picture and upload it :)

It used to scare me, but I've heard enough about it being okay to calm me down.

All our boxer have had these, Our vet suggested a natural tears formula that is a little thicker than regular drops. If I use it once a week(you can use it every day) it seems to help I guess it keep the eye protected from dust etc. I wouldn`t worry about it unless it turns yellow or green then it`s an infection.

I have to wipe Hooligan's eyes several times a day, and they are the worst first thing in the morning. I have to try and wipe them away before he has a chance to wipe them off himself on the couch or my bed.

Olli gets the eye boogies in the corner of his eyes too. He doesn't get them very often though. When he got pink eye and went to the vet. The vet. said that it is common in dogs with droopy eyes. So i don't think it is anything to worry about unless like others have said that if it changes color,or his eyes are red or swollen.

Could be allergies!

Bonnie also has runny eyes. I think it has something to do with alergies (which she has). When she sticks her head out of the sun roof of the car (I call it pollen blasting) I stop her because if she does it for long she can get an eye infection. You should check with your vet before giving your dog any medication, but if it gets really bad, at certain times, Benedryl (sp?) might help.

Check with your vet.
