My 4 month old female boxer Zoe has had a lot of yellow eye discharge lately. She has had it from day one when she wakes up in the morning, but now I have to clean her eyes 5 times a day. It's quite disgusting and I know that it is irritating Zoe. Sometimes it is so bad that the yellow discharge covers her entire eye. She has also been sneezing a few times a day lately. Do you think that she just has allergies? The sneezing isn't nearly as bad as the eye discharge. Is this normal?

Have you seen your vet about it?
Yellowish or a greenish discharge can be a sign of an infection.
If it was a clear or a milky sort of colour discharge I wouldn't be to concerned but given that it is yellow I would see your vet.

eye goobers

Our Shadowdog had greenish eye goobers really bad. We took him to the vet and he determined that his tear ducts were not working. Now we put drops in his eyes a few times a day and they are pretty much gone....good luck

Willie has just recently started getting eye "boggies". They look white, but the poor thing, they run down his face. He is very good at letting me clean his eyes. We are going to the vet tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. I heard that it could be normal depending on the color of the "goo".

I call Heidi "my little eye booger factory"... I also clean her eyes 5-6 times a day. Recently the discharge has been yellowish-green and I asked the vet about it today at our visit... she didn't seem too concerned and said it was probably allergies. Come to think of it, she said she was going to give me some ointment, but I didn't get any... guess I'll have to call next week.

Molly was getting a lot of yellow/green eye gunk every morning for a little while as well as a few sneezes and some gagging. ALl of that has stopped and I barely have to clean her eyes anymore.
At the time, shehad just had her ears cropped and was already on anibiotics to prevent infection, so my vet told me to just keep giving her the antibiotics and it should help her. Not too long after that the symptoms went away.

Thanks for all of your advise. I talked to my vet on Friday and he recommended that I pick up some eye infection ointment from him today. He doesn't seem to think that it's anything serious. He said that because boxers use their paws a lot, Zoe probably got into something (who knows what?) and rubbed her eyes with her paws, which started an infection. He seems to think that the eye ointment will clear it right up. As for the sneezing, it is far and few between lately. It must have been an allergic reaction of some sort.

THANKS!
Kristi
