Eye color

My final question for the day. Is there a standard eye color for Boxers? I would presume that it is brown. Well...my ultra-flashy fawn boy, Bear...has BLUE eyes. He is only 9 weeks old. The breeders said that his eye color would change...but...I'm not too sure about that. One side of his face is all white...the other is all fawn. At first, I thought that just the white sided eye was blue...but, upon closer inspection...the brown side is blue as well. I, personally, like the blue eyes! What do you all know about boxers changing eye color? Thanks again! Cindy W.
PS...are there any boxers out there that keep their blue eyes for life?

My totally white girl has one blue eye and one brown eye. I don't know if you pup's eyes will change, but I do remember the breeder telling me when she was four weeks old what her eye color was. It hasn't changed since then. My understanding is that the blue eye some how follows the white gene.

I am not sure what color eyes Baxter has but I presume they were dark brown. Since he is blind he is fully dilated at all times. Lexi on the other hand has very light brown eyes. Not something I see very often. She had them from the day she came home at 9 weeks and they never got any darker. I was once told the standard calls for dark brown eyes. I'm not sure but I do know that childrens eyes change colors so it could be possible that a dogs would too maybe?? I would be interested in the answer also.

There are Boxers that keep blue eyes, but most of the time they do darken. My middle boy's eyes were green when he was a puppy - threw me into a panic, let me tell you - but they are a nice dark brown now. The standard calls for brown eyes not noticeably lighter than the ground color - although many would rather see this changed to dark brown, since light eyes are now "acceptable" in a dog with a light coat color....

If they are cloudy blue, that is due to the distemper/hepatitis vaccination and should go away.

hi ...
just to let you know i 2 have a pure white male with blue eye's ,
and his was a lot lighter when he was a lot smaller .. but now they have become darker as he has got older.....we gave him his name coz of his eye's.So you'r boxer may have blue eye's 4 ever or he might get one of each...
