ever fallen asleep at work?

I work nights in the Pedi ICU at dartmouth. I have acutally taken a nap at work when things are slow and im dying!! we cover for eachother for an hour if someone needs to sleep. people have acutally fallen asleep in a chair before and almost fallen out!!!

When I was pregnant with my 2nd child, I would take naps during lunch in a treatment chair (I worked with an oral surgeon at the time). This guy was a Col. in the Air Force and very few people like to work with him because he is picky (not really, just expects you to do your job :rolleyes: ). Another assistant was going to bring a patient into the room I was napping in when I heard my doctor tell him "shhhh, get out of my room Dora is in there"! I had my own personal nap guard!

I now have this crazy woman to deal with. I believe she is schizophrenic and has OCD because she's almost bald from yanking out her hair. She's in there everynight I work and I CANNOT get her out. The first night it took me a half hour to get her out of the bathroom, the whole time she was in there all she was doing was washing her hands. Shes always talking to herself sitting in the lobby. I told my boss about her and she said that shes not gonna pay me for the extra time i have to stay there to get her out, and to call the police next time. Wel to that I said..Im just going to have to wait for the police to come...and youll damn well be paying me for the time im waiting.

Guy in the cube next to me was snoozing a couple of months ago and some of us saw him. We started speaking in clipped and hushed tone in his cube about what sort of pranks we could play and various and sundry other wise cracks. A few more folks saw what was going on and joined in. When he woke up a few minutes after the scheming started, there was about 7 or 8 folks watching him and plotting. A good chuckle was had by all.

I'm doing my student teaching this year in a 5th grade classroom and I have my last few college classes at nights. Needless to say I get really tired at times between 30 kids, lesson planning and grading papers, professors and assignments, and Bosco who I take to the park daily and stay up nights laughing with!

I have a planning period each day for an hour in the afternoon after lunch when the students go to activities and more than once I've fallen asleep at my desk. It's so quiet when the kids leave my room and then I'll hear someone yelling in the hall way or another class being loud and I'll jolt up in that panic "where am I" haha...I laugh at myself everytime!
