Enlarged Nipples & Swollen Vagina

We just adopted a 2-3 year old female from a rescue org.

She was just spayed 2 weeks ago, and was in heat at that time. Her nipples are enlarged and her vagina swollen............is this normal of this situation? Will it go away?

She seems pretty mellow and calm..............much against the popular personality of a Boxer that I have read about.

Not uncommon since she was in heat.

How does the incision look? I first thought about an infection of some sort but after re-reading the post perhaps the fact that she was in heat going into the spay is the cause. Some signs of heat are enlarged nipples and a swollen vagina.

I would call your vet and question them and perhaps even have them take a look at her. If something is amiss you are catching it early and if it is normal in her situation it will put your mind at ease.

She was spayed 2 weeks ago today..........the incision looks perfect.

Everything looks good, she is acting great, eating great.

I had read about the false pregnancy stuff, and wasn't sure how common that is.

I'll give it a week or so and see what happens.

Well her swollen vagina has gone down alot............looks like back to normal.

A few of her nipples are still rather large, hopefully they will go back to normal soon too.
