Enlarged Nipple (SCARED)

Zeus will be 4 in October and recently one of his nipples has enlarged. The rest are normal except for this one. He scratches at it all the time. It is soft, floppy and dark in color. Have any of you seen this before? We have an appointment with the vet tommorow. He is my heart and I would die if something happened to him

If it is just the nipple and not the flesh around it, then it may be something as simple as having got a scratch or a bite there that he's scratched and caused a bit of injury to (hence the swelling). But technically, it could also be a breast tumour (males can get breast cancer too - albeit more rarely than females) - so it's good that you've got him scheduled to see a vet so promptly.

Hopefully it's nothing serious though, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you

I'm glad that you have made an appointment with your vet. It's possible the Zeus just injured it in some way and that is why he keep licking at it. Good luck at the vet. I am sending positive healing vibes your way.

Years ago I had one of my boys develop something very similar. I did end up having it removed and he had no further problems. The vet had no idea why it enlarged and bugged him so much. It was not a cancer. Anyway, do see your vet.

Took Zeus to the vet today

The vet said he didn't think it was anything serious, but we decided to go ahead and have it removed anyway. He has been scratching at it so it must be irratating him somehow. So my baby will be spending the night at the vet tonight. I'm gonna miss my bed buddy:( Thanks for all the healing vibes....

I noticed, when I brought my Dozer boy home from the breeders in March, that he had a missing nipple. :-/

I didn't think much of it and I don't think he minds.
