Bxr-Lvr and April
Sorry for the post, now looking back it wasn't very nice. I haven't been feeling well the last few days, which is really no excuse.
Bxr-lvr you are right everyone has different situtations and I don't know all the facts. I just think that training and exercise like you said are the best thing for you at this time.
I apoligize again if I upset either one of you, that was not my intention. I was just trying to understand the situation more and guess I did it in the wrong way.
Believe me my life is not perfect and I don't have all the answers. I have had many problems with Megan (if you look back on the board you will see that--and many that weren't posted). Megan is not crated 24 hours a day nor is she always on a leash. So I can understand why you would not want to do that. My thought was that when Megan was going through her flight period I tried to keep her leashed or beware of her environment before letting her out the door. Even now I look before opening the door for her (our yard is not fenced in yet). If there is a squirrel or someone walking down the street I hook her because I know she will probably run for whatever she sees that is more interesting than I am.
As for the crate Megan spends very little time there because we have made other arrangements for her. As I often tell my mother, I didn't buy a dog to be crated 9 hours a day while we were at work and 8 hours a day while we were sleeping. That is no life for a dog. Like I said I can surely understand where you are coming from by not wanting to crate her or put her on a leash.
I wasn't referring to the fact that training was something you couldn't afford. I don't see it fit to comment on people personal finance situation. I would never do that. I didn't grow up in the wealthiest of families and know what it is like to be strapped for money. I was just trying to say that it is expensive but well forth it. I'm not sure what training goes for where you are but around here they are over $100 easy for 6 hours of class.
I'm sure you know what is best for you and your boxer. Again I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend anyone.
