Doc eats so much grass. Everytime he goes outside for potty time he does what he has to do and lays down and eats grass. Does anyone else's boxer do this?

Ours eat grass quite a bit, but usually only when they have an upset stomach. I think that it helps with digestion if they ate something bad. They will usually eat it if they have to throw up.

Sundance does the same thing. However, he doesn't really eat much grass. He seems to just bite it and roll it around in his mouth. I don't think eating grass, in moderation, is bad for dogs. My problem is he seems to want to eat cat waste and can tell the difference between it and dog waste. Whenever he is sniffing around I really have to watch him and when he gets a mouthful, I reach in and get it out. Yuk!

My two eat grass like they're out to pasture. It can make their poop look scary - kind of black. We freaked out a while ago about the scary poop, and had the vet check it, but the vet said it was just from the grass and not to worry about it.

Tina eats a little of grass almost every walk. When she has her stomack upset she eats *tons* of grass. Our vet says, this way she tries to clean the stomack and provokes vomitting.

We had read someplace that dogs will eat grass if they have worms too, and all of hte sudden Pebbles starting eating a lot of grass. We were convinced it was worms (the grass eating was just one of the symptoms).
SO we took her to the vet. 183$ later we found out, Pebbles just likes to eat grass. She's not harming herself, so just let her go to it.

Doc had worms about two weeks ago and the vet de wormed him and put him on antibiotics ( if thats how you spell it?) and we went back after he finished his medicine and he was better so he is still eating grass, so I guess he just likes it. :)

Yes one reason a dog eats grass is to induce vomiting. The grass goes to the stomach and binds with whatever it contains and then he vomits it. This is a behavior that protects a dog against food poisoning and indigestion. They seem to know which grasses and weeds to eat. Some of these weeds are the same that are found in the health food stores to boost emmune systems. Also, I learned that Rhus Tox, a homeopathic remedy for achy joints and rheumatism, is made from poison ivy, which dogs also eat, how smart can they be??? !!!
