Eating fruit?

Boy, my Layla is just the opposite of all your babies! She will not touch any type of produce (except avacado for some reason), including fruits. I've tried just about every fruit I can think of, and haven't gotten her to take a bite of even one! When I offer some to her, she sniffs it, looks at me indignantly, and walks away

Samson dearly loves tomatoes. He used to have access to the garden and would steal tomatoes all of the time. It was cute, I'll never forget it. Now, when I cut up garden tomatoes, he always gets the end pieces.

Samson has always had a passion for peaches too. He always begs so nicely, there is no prompting, just staring. Peaches will make him drool.

Tyra loves tomatoes too. She isn't into the fruit as much. Oh, I did forget, they ALL love apples. Delilah doesn't like much any other kind of fruit or vegetable though.

Fun babies!

Duke got two banana's off the counter this weekend. Only ate about half of each one though! I couldn't believe.

My parents used to have green pepper plants that they would plant in their yard. Max, a shih tzu my parents dog, would pull off every single pepper and eat it! They eventually had to put a fence around it. But he would jump it, so they just gave up and let him eat them. It was so funny to watch him pull and tug to get it off!!

Toni loves fruit. The strangest one I think though is grapefruit. She sits there in the morning while I am eating my grapefruit with those big brown eyes. How can you resist? The first time I thought she wouldn't like it and that would be that. Wrong. She loves it. She even waits until "we" are done and then licks the inside of the peel. Bananas, oranges, apples, watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes, green pepper, lettuce. I really think it is pretty much whatever is good enough for me to eat is perfect for her. If I put it in my mouth, she wants it. Most time she gets at least a taste. I wonder if this is a boxer trait or a dog trait.

I know that there was a post on here sometime before about some foods that are toxic to dogs...I just wanted to inform you that AVACADO's are on that list. Along with GRAPES, RAISINS, ONIONS, and a few others.

OMG I have never tried lemons. I'll have to do that. I knew that onions, grapes and raisins were bad. I never checked on avacados but I am a firm believer that they are toxic for me (childhood experience). I am going to print out the list of foods that are toxic to dogs and check it before I try anything new.

The direct link doesn't work...but go to the homepage, click on publications and scoll down to 'Health Articles', it's under 'Household Dangers'.

Please be careful what you feed your pups...;)

I also had a cat with a thing for cilantro! We grew our own catnip on the kitchen window sill next to a pot of cilantro, he never touched the nip but loved to partake of the cilantro. His name was Cosmo and he is still alive, living in England with the people we rented a house from while we lived there.

Stormy loves any and all fruit. I have not found one she doesnt like yet. I think the only ones she hasnt tried are lemons and limes. Not sure I will try those or not. May be fun just to see how she reacts.
