So, I'm sitting here doing my early morning work (I'm having some insomnia) and all of a sudden I hear Lance crying like he got bit by something or the like. You know the cry. It lasted about 2-3 seconds then he fell quiet again. I assume this was a nightmare? I've seen dogs dream before. That whole running and slightly barking while they sleep is hilarious. But this is new. He did this once before now that I think of it. It woke me up that time.

Anyone's dogs have nightmares? I can only wonder what he's dreaming about :D

Well Indy and I are not allowed to watch anything that is scarier than Abbott & Costello and the Mummy, so I don't know what causes this. But I'm sure he dreams. Who knows what the events are though? I'm sure like ours they are mostly very quick. I've always been fascinated since I was a child with watching our dogs and trying to figure out if they were playing with kids in their dreams, chasing a squirrel or what. Sometimes they will make movement with their feet as though they are running. Huff and puff their cheeks, so many events.

Once again, it would be so interesting to have a peek into what is going on in my dogs mind. But maybe I'm better off not knowing and just enjoying our waking time together.

Cooper makes all kinds of noises while he is asleep. He also "runs" in his sleep. Today he was sleeping on my feet and starting growling during his nap. :)

 Chief runs in his sleep as well! and woob-woob-woobs while he's running! It cracks me up every time! You wonder what they're dreaming, don't you?

What a cute guy that Lance is! I LOVE that picture!
My Jager does stuff like that too, he's woken me up a few times; I hear him cry or yelp all of a sudden in the middle of the night, and I get straight up! I'm so afraid something's wrong, so I go to his room and he's sleeping like a little baby! I'm a worry wart, it's a hard thing to get rid of! But . . . better safe than sorry I say! hehe! I love my baby!

Completely Boxer Crazy
What do you suppose our dogs are afraid of? I read this whole thread and acknowledge that Apollo has had these "nightmares" before. I do wonder what made him yelp. He hasn't gotten loose lately(thank goodness) but maybe he is scared of one of my neighbors and that caused a bad dream. Or maybe he's dreaming that a bad guy is trying to get into the house or just maybe, he's dreaming that Rocky has finally gotten bigger than him(lol, it's only a matter of time). The good dreams seem to be all about running and having fun, even a good time WOOF! is expressed in his sleep. Rocky on the other hand just elicits snores. Maybe a little running, but the only noises are snores:). Perhaps a dog dream journal is in order. Interesting hmm.

I know my brutus dreams. I always think he is chasing the stray cats in our neighborhood....they tease him all the time so i think in his sleep he gets them back. LOL I do wonder what he is afraid of though at times. He has woken himself up a few times yelping or crying. :( I think his good dreams definately outweigh the bad ones. :)

My two also dream. Sometimes they really get going with their arms and legs moving and yelping and whining like crazy. It scares me too. I am not sure if were suppose to or not, but occassionally we wake them up. I know that when I am having nightmare I like to be woken up too. But most of the time they just look at us like......"what??? what do you want???? I'm sleeping!"

Abbi and Hayden dream all the time too. One time, Abbi was crying so loudly in her sleep that I thought she was hurt. I went over to her and started petting and trying to soothe her and she woke up and looked at me like "mom, why'd you wake me up???" Both of them huff and puff in their sleep too. Oh! And another time, Abbi was growling so nastily in her sleep one night that it woke me up and scared me because I was home alone. Silly girl!
