Dream interpretations anyone?

I do them free! Its a hobby of mine. Just post your dream in this thread and I'll interpret it for you, wednesday thru saturday (I only have access to the boards during work, and I'm off Sun-Tues).

Nightmare? Recurring dream? One just plain weird? I'll tackle them all. :)

And, for your own protection, some dream symbology can seem benign and actually reveal rather embarassing truths. If it seems a dream is going on this route, I will send you your interpret via pm so as not to embarrasss you (for example, one rather benign dream I did led me to suspect the dreamer to have been umm...intimately abused while very young. I pm'd her rather than airing that in public, and it turned out to be true. If its private, I'll keep it private :) ).

C'mon y'all. Challenge me!

Ok, here goes....
My dreams always involve a person or animal that I care for being badly injured. I am always there trying to help them. We are also always being chased by "bad-guys" and I am dragging/pulling the injured out of harms way trying to save their lives. I never get injured in these dreams and don't ever see any injuries inflicted, I just happen along and find the remnants after the fact.
I also am always crying in the dream and in real life as it wakes hubby up and he then wakes me up.

So why do you think??

Ok, here is a recurring one that I can think of.
In the dream I am required to take a test, and I am NEVER prepared. I am in a total panic thinking I'm going to fail and that I know nothing of the topic. It gives me much anxiety, and a feeling of hopelessness.

Any thoughts?

All my nightmares and I mean all of the involve snakes one way or another....and I hate snakes out of all creatures in the world....the worst one of all...it was when I was pregnet with my first daughter and I was in a forest and I could hear her crying...but the whole ground was covered in snakes....and I was standing there wondering if I could go in and find her....but I didn't...I just stood there....terrified !!!!

Thanks
Laurie

Wow, so many so quick! Fortunately, all pretty simple ;)

Cami:

Caring for something injured may mean you're worried that you're going to slack in some responsibility, causing catastrophe. You're the kind of person that would rather take care of something yourself than rely on others to do it, just to insure it'll be done right. You have an overinflated sense of responsibility.

Being pursued means also trying to avoid a problem or situation you really don't want to face, but probably need to.

Layla's Mom:

There are SIX common dreams that just about everyone has in their lives. These are Flying, Exam, Teeth, CHASE, Naked, and Falling. They all deal with fundamental fears that every human being shares. You're having a classic Exam dream. It stems from a fear of being judged by others, and not fitting in. We all want to be accepted and liked and deemed worthy by others.

Laurie_Duke: Snakes usually mean hidden worries or problems that are plaguing you. However a natural phobia of snakes could bring them into your dream to signify any unseen fear, or a fear of something you feel helpless against. Because you hate snakes so much, your mind uses that to symbolize ANY fear or dark concern that needs addressing.

Rachel P. : You're much the same as Laurie above, with her snake phobia. Spiders represet a fear of being unaccepted and outcast, but they can also represent something positive: good luck, strong female power, a control of your fate. Because you have a spider phobia, however, your mind does what Laurie's does. It uses them to address a great deal of fears that need addressing...kind of a symbolic catch all.

Edited to add the sixth common dream type...I can't believe I forgot chase!

Ok..here goes! This dream has plagued me since 1996! At the time I had my 2 boys. In my dream, we were in my car going somewhere. I pulled over and got out of the car for some reason or another. I parked it on a street beside our home that leads down to a park and river. The car began to roll on its own down the street (incline). I began to run after it but couldn't catch up to it. My boys were yelling at me through the rear window. As I caught up to the side of the car..my grandfather (who had passed away at that time) was sitting in the passenger seat looking out the window at me expressionless...almost peaceful and calm! The car continued to roll through the park and into the river completely sinking to the bottom!! Rescue was there in seconds and had pulled my boys out of the car and river and they were fine. I screamed at them to get my grandfather and they said there was no one else down there. From nowhere my father was at my side trying to calm me saying that my grandfather is dead..had been for 7yrs! I was soooo upset because I knew he was in the car. End of dream.
One year later my father died suddenly of a massive heart attack! :(

this is so cool!

i have TWO recurring dreams for you - first, sometimes i have dreams where something really scary or bad is happening, but i can't scream. its the worst!! i'm always absolutely terrified and i'm screaming as hard as i can so my parents will come save me (i'm 15, so my 'rents live down the hall from me :P) but no sound will come out! btw, i can never remember what sort of scary thing is happening. these dreams have been happeing for as long as i can remember, so i'll be very interseted to see what they mean.

second, i always have dreams about being late. thats right folks, NIGHTMARES about being LATE. its usually for school, sometimes i'll be days late or sometimes just hours late. and they happen ALL THE TIME. i don't know why, i'm late sometimes in the real world (very rarely ;)) and i never feel as horrible as i do in the dreams. thats the other thing, as far as i can remember, i don't get yelled at or anything when i'm late (in the dreams) i just feel like the world is ending!! these ones have just started happening to me, about a year ago i would say.

so how screwed up am i ;)????

ok, here's mine... my dreams always have elements of deja vu. They are also very life like - I see colors in my dreams. They always involve doing things with the kids, like a vacation or even getting ready for school. When the real life event takes place, I always get freaked out. Sometimes the dream is months/years before an event. Examples:

Many years ago, I had a dream I was looking out a funny shaped window. Below, my husband and his brother were pushing a car down a funny shaped driveway. (At the time, I was not married!!) After DH & I got married, we had a funny apartment on top of an old, old house that sat back behind a group of other houses - so it had a weird driveway. It also had a skylight type window.

I've also had dreams about taking my kids shopping and buying a certain color of t-shirt.

and once when we went on vacation and had to kennel the dogs, I had a dream of them playing/rough housing style the whole time! Turns out, that is exactly what they did.

This may wax long, forgive me ;)

Xenaprincess:

Being in a car almost always means the same basic thing, with variations regarding who is in the car as well, and who is doing the driving. Cars are about your life. The type of car and how it appears (clean and expensive, banged up, filthy, etc.) reflects how we or how we think others see our lives or their direction. The driver of the car suggests control. If you're driving, you feel you're in control of your life. If another is, you're surrendering control to someone or something else. Now, more specifically, you were in your car and then got out, and the car began to leave on its own, taking your two children with it. Your life, since the birth of your two children, has been all about them (as it should be), but you're starting to worry you're going to lose control, you're going to make mistakes, or that you're going to do something that will endanger your children and their future (a common fear ;) ).

However your grandfather was peaceful and calm, in the car now with the kids. This can mean a couple of things. You're subconsciously realizing that, despite your fears, things will end up all right in the end and you know that. You're working on giving your kids a solid foundation and are confident they'll grow on that as they should. Also, I do firmly believe that people who have passed on can and do visit us in the dreamstate. This whole dream may have been a message from your grandfather telling you not to worry, that he's watching over things, and that everything will turn out all right.

Rivers represent emotions. Almost any body of water that you dream about represent emotions and your emotional state. That the car goes and sinks in the river again suggests all your heart and soul and concern goes toward your children...literally consumes them and your life. While this is a good thing, you also have to be careful that your emotions for your family don't swallow up your ability to 'use your head' as well. Emotions are wonderful, but you can't let them utterly control you.

As shown, everything turns out all right in the end, though you are left upset and strained by the events...even asleep, the images of those that have passed on evoke feelings of regret and grief, so its not unusual for you to be having them in this dream. As the river showed, you are a very emotionally charged person, so its even more expected. :)

Lovely Rita:

Not screwed up at all! Dreams always seem a little weird until explained. The subconscious mind relies extremely heavily on symbology and imagry. To our waking, logical, linear thinking minds, this symbology may make little to no sense, but once explained, the most common reaction I get to my interpretations is, oh! That makes sense! Why didn't I see that before?

Recurring dreams usually address an ongoing personality trait of yours or a fear, problem, or trauma that hasn't been worked through. Your screaming dream is again, fairly common, especially for teenagers! I'll tell you why.

You are screaming, something terrible is happening, and yet you're making no noise...no one hears you!

The entire explination is in that last sentance. No one hears you. You're learning who you are, you're becoming an adult, finding out about yourself, leaving your childhood behind. This is a period of great emotional stress, of a lot of heartache, and of seeking validation. You feel you are seeking this validation, that you are trying to express yourself and your views, but no one 'seems to care'. Parents, especially, are common figures in this dream. Let me guess, in waking life you find yourself thinking, 'they just don't understand', or ' they just don't get what I'm going through' or, 'don't they ever just listen to me? Won't they just shut up and listen for once?'

Sound familiar? I'll bet it does. Hence, the dream where you scream and no one hears you. However since you've had this dream as long as you can remember, there seems to be a deeper problem going on. Its not merely a teenage related phenomenon. Maybe you have always felt distant from your parents, as if they are blocked off from you somehow. Perhaps there was a time when you felt you had a serious problem and they just brushed you off..or something was important to you and they forgot about it and played it off like it was no big deal, when it certainly was for you. You'll have to explore this one on your own and see which scenario best fits.

As for your second, I still have nightmares about being late to school, and I graduated ten years ago. :) You're worried about being socially accepted. This, again, fits with your age (or any age, really). People disapprove of people when they're late, especially to someplace like school or work. You could face dire consequences for tardiness. You want people's approval and are worried you are not fulfilling their expectations as they want. That is the real source of your fear: you want to be socially acceptable. Not that you actually care about being late in real life or not ;)

****

Evie&Adam...I'm willing to bet you're a creative individual with a vivid imagination, or one who is very emotionally stimulated. I could be wrong, but I'll tell you why I say that.

You see colors in your dreams, and vividly. Believe it or not, most people dream in black and white, and rarely in color. I was shocked when I found this out. I have NEVER dreamt in black and white in my life. All my dreams have been very colorful, very vivid, and...being the writer/creative person that I am...I almost force them into storylines. There's a term for this (which I don't at the moment recall). But I have found, more often than not, those people who remark on dreaming in color are usually creative individuals themselves, very right-brained oriented, or very emotional people. You're very visual, very tactile, and less logical.

That said, on to the rest.

I do believe in the power of dreams to predict random events in the future, both immediate and distant. And I usually find that those who report such happenings are again...of the creative and emotional type. However, I must clarify things a bit.

Dreams that seemingly predict future events...if those events happen in the near future...are likely not as mystical as they appear. Your subconsious picks up on EVERYTHING that comes in the realm of your senses, from the moment you are born, to the moment you die. This is why hypnotists can find the license plate of a car used in a crime by digging into a witness's subconsious...a witness who happened to only very momentarily glimpse it. It never registered on their conscious mind, and if asked they could not in a trillion years give you the proper number...but the info is stored there in the subconscious.

That being said, the future events may not be all that unpredictable..by your subconscious.

For example, a man dreams he's about to be fired, and sure enough, the next day, the boss gives him the axe. Wow, he's psychic, right? No. What his subconscious picked up on that his conscious never did was the mannerisms of everyone around him at work. Perhaps someone knew that he was to be fired soon and was a bit more stiff around him, a bit more sympathetic, or a bit more smug. Perhaps there were distant verbal hints or inflections that might tip him off that something wasn't quite right in his job security. His subconscious picked up on all these and gave him the mental warning. Its kin to knowing a storm is going to come even on a bright and calm day, because there is a significant and particular feel in the air. Or how dogs can predict earthquakes by sensing subtle vibrations in the earth. The dog might not ever consciously make the conclusion that the earth is about to shake...but he certainly feels something is remiss!

However, that only explains the immediate predictions, the short term. Dreaming of an event or place years before going there or it happening...yes, well, we all have our psychic burps. I firmly believe that :)
