Doggie Acne

I have a 15 month old female boxer who has a very bad case of doggie acne. She's had it for as long as I can remember. Sometimes it's just one or two pimples on her 'lips', muzzle area & chin, other times it's covered with little red pimples that puff up. If she plays hard, they pop and bleed. They last a few days generally and then go away, only a new one develops in a different spot. I took her to the vet many many months ago and he
diagnosed as her having doggie acne. He did prescribe her some antibiotics, which completely cleared them up but they returned a week or so later. I did some reading online and found that I guess, it's a common thing in certain young, short haired breeds, such as boxers. Apparently, there's a bacterial infection in the hair follicles which causes the outbreaks, which is why the antibiotics worked. It says to use acne medicine on them (my vet said to use Stridex), but it's not working. I feel like they must hurt but they dont seem to bother her. I think it bothers me more...but I still would like to get it under control if I can.

Has anyone had any experience with this? If so, do you have any recommendations or advice on how to control
it??

Yes it is pretty common with boxers. Sometimes it goes away with age( hormonal)and some have it of and on all their life.:(
My vet recommend something like Oxy10(Benzol peroxide) wash and cream and it worked pretty well. They have it for dogs but can't remember the name.
If you do a search on "dog acne" you will find a lot of threads on it.
