Both those dogs were put down. One immediately, the other several months later, after a protracted fight by the Defendants to save it. Evidence was found that these dogs were being trained as guard dogs, the book "Mankiller" was found in the apartment of the owners, numerous people testified to the dog's viciousness, as well as the defendants finding "humor" in the situation when people would be scared and fearful when the dogs threatened or bit them.
An unfortunate side affect of this case is that some landlords have been evicting owners of perfectly well-behaved large dogs who have not caused any problems just because they fear being held liable if someone should get bitten. There is a civil suit by the victim's family pending against the owner of the apartment where the attack took place, claiming that he is responsible because he allowed them to live there with those dogs. A terrible case all around.:mad:
