Dog Dreams and Hiccups

Somebody told me there's no such thing as "dog dreams," i.e. when he twitches and barks and whatnot in his sleep. So what's happening when he does that?

Do puppies have the hiccups more often than adult dogs. My little dude gets the hiccups almost every time he eats or drinks. I've never had another dog that did that. Just wondering...

Not sure about the dog dream question, but Carmel does that as well. It's especially odd when she is asleep with her eyes half open.
As far as the hiccups go....it's a normal puppy thing. Carmel had them constantly. She is now only 6 months, and the hiccups have subsided ALOT. She gets them on occasion, but not nearly as aften as when we first brought her home.

I have never heard that dogs don't dream. I have always considered them to be dreaming when run in their sleep. I have also had them bark. Then they usually wake themselves up.

The hiccuping is definitely a puppy thing. Caney used to get them constantly when she was young. I thought it was cute

And they definitely dream -- how else would you explain all that barking and twitching? I just wish I had taken a video of Caney dreaming when she was a puppy -- for the first few weeks after bringing her home she would full-out run in her sleep, all four legs going as fast and as hard as they could go! She nearly ran right off her dog bed a few times

My Buster will be 12 weeks old on 8/22 and always gets hiccups after he eats as well. I guess this is something they will grow out of as they mature or learn to eat a little slower.

When mine was younger he did hiccup a lot but I was told it was normal. Now I don't see that much, once a while (now he is over 2 years old). But the dream, he does a lot, very cute to watch (since he wakes me up anyway), his body shakes and he makes some noise. The more I play with him during the day, the more he dreams. This is one thing in life I would love to know what his dream is about!

Tyson is constantly dreaming and snoring. Just this afternoon, he was sleeping, legs going in all directions, and blowing air out his jowls with a small "ruff" sound. I`d also love to know what they dream. He is now 7 months old, and his hiccups are about 99% better. Still gets them but not as much. Now, if I could just get him to use the breathe right strips for his snooring

I swear mine had a nightmare last week. He was growling and barking while sleeping on our bedroom floor. He work me up after a few minutes he was whining then he jumped up on the bed cuddled right up to me let out a big boxer sigh and stuck by my side all night.

Our Rupert has doggie dreams all the time.
He barks, grrrrs, and moves his feet as if he's running. I think he's dreaming about chasing squirrels in his sleep. He gets hiccups all the time, too, whenever he's excited (if he smells chicken cooking, or when he sees me heading for the treat cupboard.

Anybody who says that dogs don't dream, doesn't have dogs. SuzyQ whines, barks little high pitched barks, growls and kicks her feet & legs. Sometimes she must think she is leaping as her whole body will heave up and down, practically rolling herself off her bed. If that isn't a dream I can't imagine what it is.
