Just curious if anyone here is allergic to their dog and if there are ways to control the symptoms?

We think my husband might be allergic to Champ...his arms always get red and itchy after he is playing with Champ. We hope it is just his skin reacting to the change in the weather. I would also love to know if there is a quick remedy that someone has tried.

It is so interesting that this was posted today because I think I am allergic to Brooklyn. I've been sneezing, itchy throat, itchy eyes, the works! We just got her so I'm hoping it is just pollen with the weather changing and all. I love her to death so I'm hoping it is a coincidence. I've had dogs before and no problems so we'll see!

We aren't allergic to Kasch (that we know of yet). Though I did get a bacteria infection in my eye, that the eye doc said was most likely from him (because he'd been so sick).
Kasch has allergies though. I've never heard of a dog having allergies until him. Either way, the vet said we could give him children's benedryl. She also said that we could use it also on Morgan (our daughter's got allergies) in case she is allergic to him. So far no one's broken out or anything. *crossing fingers*
Maybe benedryl might work?

When we got Nestle (over 2 yrs ago) my allergies got so bad that I developed asthma. I went to an allergist and started with the Advair disk and inhaler. I eventually had to stop that when I got pregnant. Now, I am don't need the Advair disk and just take Zyrtec. It has been great so far. We have all wood floors so it is easy to clean up the puppy fur.

With the 2 of them now and this weather, I have my moments but think I have gotten used to it.

I'm allergic to a lot of environmental things, two of which are dogs and cats. I have always had at least one or two of each since I was a little girl. I too go to an Allergist and take Zyrtec daily, as well as a nasal spray called Rhinocort. Both are non-drowsy meds and they really help me with my year-round allergies. You might look in to a daily prescription allergy med - they can really help :)

I'm allergic to Mason but I just take my allergy meds and it keeps me on track. I also make sure the house is clean which helps. Getting rid of him wasn't an option like one doctor has suggested.

My husband is allergic to tons of things including our dog and cat. He has been able to keep it under control by taking Allegra-D. He has also seen an improvement since we got the Dyson Animal vacuum. It seems to pick up a lot of the pet hair and dust.

Allergies

I'm allergic to my cats and Duke! I take over the counter stuff (Alavert) and on really bad days I need the real stuff, (Allegra or Clarinex) but I haven't needed my inhaler since we got rid of ALL the rugs in the house. But since allergies run in the family my mom and two sisters suffer when they come over.
