swimming

I said indifferent because Duke seems to love water. When we tried to get him in our friends pool he freaked out. We think it could have been that there were alot of people jumping around. Duke could attack the water hose all day long. I am going to take him to a lake around us to see how he does there.

I have one like Harley - Tenaia loves to chase the ducks in the lake, and I have to fight her for the shower!! Can't go near the shower door without her sitting on the bath mat waiting to get in.
She puts her feet up on the basin in the morning as well, and waits for her toothbrush, toothpaste, and a washcloth for her face! She likes to floss too!!! Crazy girl......My Tess on the other hand, avoids the shower and dental hygiene (sp) at all costs.

Gotta luv 'em!

So far Emma has only been in a wading pool and the bath tub. Doesn't really count as swimming. She doesn't seem to mind the water but I would really love to have the chance to get her in soemthing deeper. I kinda think she would like it. She will go anywhere I go, and if I'm in the shower, she will come right in and just sit there. Anything to be close to me :)

We have two boxers, Devin and Sophie, I voted "no" because of Devin's intense dislike for swimming. We laugh about it now, but man o man was he afraid of the pool. I thought all dogs could swim, but not Devin....Devin sunk right to the bottom of the pool! We picked him up and he started to freak out and climb US to get out of the pool! He has never ever liked baths and he hates the sprinklers. Sophie, on the other hand, has never been swimming but trying to keep her away fromthe sprinklers and the garden hose is near impossible! :)

Love of swimming

Porter LOVES LOVES LOVES to swim!!! His first experience in the water was when he was about 4 1/2 or 5 months old. Dave and I took him to Ocean City, MD for the last weekend that you could take your dog on the beach! At first, and only for about 30 seconds, he was skeptical...but after that I couldn't get him out of the water. The water was cold, but I only let him in up to his knees and dried him off real good after. He loved it!!!! We've taken him to Quiet Waters Dog Beach in Annapolis and on vacation to a lake in Upstate NY. It's his favorite thing to do!!
He even dives completely under the water head first!!!
Anyother Boxer swimmers out there in Annapolis (including Bailey and Subi) we should hook up before it gets too cold to swim!

Swimming

My Xena loves the baby pools, rivers, lakes, the ocean and the hose...but she freaks if you try to get her into a pool. I read that Boxers have very good deepth percetion and that could be why she wont go in the swimming pool. She can see the bottom there where the lakes and ocean are Murky waters.

i voted indifferent!

Cause Shelby is at K9 swimming classes (much like teaching a little kidd how to swim) and she is doing great she paddles along heheeh so cute! and we took her to the beach the same day as her first swimming class and she ran to the water after mummy, and realised that the ground had changed and ran staight back out.. but some coaxing with some cheesums got her back on in heheeh

Loves the Water

My baby girl Jemma, loves the water she can't get enough of it. We live right near the beach so she has been a water freak since she was tiny. She loves any sort of water as long as its wet - trying to water the garden is near impossible with her biting at the water and running back and forth. We bath her in the shower and she loves it sits quietly right under the spray of the water - yes!! head wet and all. She thinks its wonderful.

Can't wait to see Porter in the snow!

Porter was born 12/27/01, so he hasn't really had any experience in the snow. Light snow, but that's about it. I hope we get enough snow for him to 'swim' in this year!!!
I bet it's a blast to watch your dogs in making tunnels!!! :p
