Does your boxer wear his collar at home?

I was just curious, after reading another post where someone said their boxer only wears his collars for walks. Do you keep collars on your dogs fulltime, or only when you're going out?

My dogs lounge "in the buff" at home. Gilroy once had a nasty reaction to an embroidered collar, so I had to leave him collarless while it healed. I liked how comfortable he seemed without it, and took Purdy's off as well.

It does worry me that they could escape with no ID, but I'm very, very cautious.

Mack wears his collar all the time - I always worry he might get out, also, I like to have a place to grab him if I need to.
When my Katie was still with us - I used to take her collar off at bedtime, and rub her neck, tell her "doesn't that feel good? Like taking off your bra."

We usually keep the collars off Nellie and Striker.

I too worry about the ID thing. We had been keeping it on because of that reason.
But, Striker started to get a little neck rub from the collar, and we kept it off.

The other day when the Gas/Electric guy had to come over, I put their collars on so I could grab them. (And I'm glad I did!!)

We are very careful that they don't get out without their collars/id on.

Brody never wears his collar indoors. He scratches at it if I forget to take it off. (If he escaped out the front or back door, he's still inside a fenced yard).
But when I let him outside, I do put his collar/ID on anyway, just in case he'd somehow get over and under the fence someday. But that's unlikely since I pretty much watch him like a hawk. I believe they are alike like human toddlers, you don't just leave them out unsupervised.

Our two don't wear their collars in the house - we only use them when they are out for a walk. That has been a concern on mine, because Ttakas takes off at every opportunity he gets - more likely in the Summer when doors are left open. Fortunately we've seen him go each time and managed to catch him, but if he does ever get out without us knowing, no one would know where he belonged.

The only time I take Samson and Athena's collars off is for bathtime. I believe we can take every precaution in the world to keep them safe at home, but I am willing to bet almost every dog will wander off sometime in their life. I still get a sinking feeling in my stomach when a think of the time Athena and Samson decided to go for an evening stroll. But it did comfort me a little to know that they had on their collars with tags, and hopefully they would run into someone with a kind enough heart to bring them home. I know they get itchy, and it must be horrible to have something around your neck all the time, but to me safety first, I make up for it though, I make sure they get nice neck rubs regularly.

lmao feels like taking your bra off! First thing I do! Oh we were talking about collars off. We take Brits off for bathtime and for a treat. She likes her massages. We chain Brit when she needs to pee. Its more of a run. I like to know she has her tags on just in case.............

I take Morgans walking/ID collar off when we come in the house. I put a soft narrow leather one on her when shes just going to stay indoors. She gets very upset if I don't put one of the collars on.

JoAnn, you're smart to keep them on full time, for ID purposes. I live in a pretty small town, and half the town knows my dogs by name, so that gives me a bit more confidence.
I have two friends with dogs who hung themselves by their collars, although one was tied up at the time. (He went over the edge of a deck for some reason....) The other one caught his collar on a picket fence.
Purdy got her tag caught between some boards once, in the middle of summer. I kept looking out the window wondering why she was staying in the same place, and when I checked, she was stuck. Her tag went between the boards of the deck, then turned, and she couldn't get it free. I have no doubt she would have died out there in the 100 degree heat, if I hadn't seen it happen. So, I guess there are risks either way, if they're not supervised while wearing their collars outside.

Question for all of you...I keep collars on mine at all times for the safety reason of them getting out but they have been scratching at their collars lately and Baxter especially. He has no hair where his collar is because when we got him it had grown into him and while being neutered it had to be removed (surgically?) Although we keep their collars loose enough I have thought about leaving them off in the house because they are microchipped. If picked up by the animal warden in our area they are always scanned (heaven forbid they would ever get out!) and this would guarantee them a trip home. But I suppose if picked up by a person their ID would be better. Just wondered what you all thought? I have to agree they must get irritating. I don't sleep in my bra for heaven sake
