she kadie and i are playing she plays pretty rough like when im running in the back yard is growls and jumps up at you. she diesn't bite just keeps her mouth open its like she has hit my face with a tooth and my elbow but shes not biting she just has her mouth open and kinda hits it. BTW she is 6 months old. even inside she will growl and jump around then start to run in circles.

does anyone elses boxer do this??

I have two boxers and they both do this. When they are outside and dont want to come in they will bark and growl at me and if I try to grab them they run in circles. My older boxer will put her mouth on me as if to bite but she never bites down. The younger one likes to pinch me with her front teeth.

Bailey's the same way. She hurts me the most with her nails though and it's worse when they're freshly cut. She puts her mouth on me but doesn't bite down. I've taught her that she can't rough play at all with my daughters though. My youngest is afraid of dogs (she's getting better since we've gotten Bailey) and I don't want to nurture that fear by allowing Bailey to bite and jump on her. With my husband, she usually bites at his pant legs right after he gets home from work. It's hilarious.

Yep, Basil does this too. Kinda freaks people out who don't know the breed. He can get really rough and loud when he plays. We also play a game called "feet" where my fiance runs backwards and Basil growls and jackhammers at his feet :)

I must be lucky, Sadie plays nice and has never been rough, the daycare girls say it's hard to believe she's a boxer...because shes so mellow :p

Yep. Spud loves to play rough too. He does it more with my BF than with me...when they go at it it sounds like Spud is ripping BF limb from limb! I'm suprised noone has called the police so far! ;)
Spud knows his limits though. He never bites and when he gets a bit too rough, BF says "enough" and Spud stops. :)

In our short time with Maddie, we have learned she loves this! The only time it was a problem was when she decided to bite at my ankles!!! But that was only once and we haven't had any problems since :)

Boxers play very rough.....all of the ones I have met do anyway. When Bella and dh are playing you would swear she is the most viscious possessed dog on earth. When with another dog she barks and growls like she is gonna eat them up. It is just her being a boxer! As long as their nub is wagging and they aren't showing any aggressive body language, it is just playing. Bella never bites either...only mouths at our hands and feet. Boxers didn't get their name for nothing!!! :p

Crash plays rough also. He tends to play much rougher with DH and other dogs than he does with me. He can also get pretty vocal. We've got some pretty nasty looks at the dog park before. I have to tell people that's it playing - not fighting. Sounds like your baby is a pretty typical boxer!

Here too!

Coco really prefers to play rough and she sounds terrible when she's doing it. Of course my son & DH play roughest with her and she knows to be a little nicer with mom & sis. She growls, barks, jumps, woos and all kinds of things. Out of the blue if she wants to play she will grab a toy and come shove it on you and growl. That's her way of saying I wanna play! She scared my niece the other day doing that and I had to tell my niece not to fret, she's just playing but Ashley sure didn't think so for a minute. Coco grabbed & toy and when Ashley reached for it she growled her little growl and Ashley jerked back and said Whoa! No worries, she's just playing. :)
