Does anyone else's Boxer have bad smelly gas? Ali has been Barfing for about a week now and yesturday and today he has had bad smelly gas all day long. I've been feeding him yogart and only chicken. I read another post about how her Boxer poops little round balls and looks constipated, Ali is too is this normal?

LOL - actually one of the major benefits to owners in feeding raw is usually a significant decrease in the amount of gas... I find that chicken skin/fat is often a problem though. If I feed too much of that, it causes tummy upsets and gas. Possibly that could be the case also for your boy, or I guess he could just be in the process of adjusting. If you think that could be the cause, you might like to remove as much of the skin as can be done easily (no need to go silly on it though).

As for the poop, yes, hard is normal. You should also notice that, if you don't pick it up, it will crumble into dust within a couple of days. If it is too hard though, then either feeding a greater amount of meat, offal or veges will soften it up again. It is the bone that makes it hard, so if you decrease the percentage of bone in his meals, his poop will soften accordingly.

That's probably it!

We feed him mainly chicken Drumsticks and those have alot of skin and thick bones so that would explain it. I tried giving him chiken liver last night and he refused to eat it it would drink all the juice in the bowl and leave the liver any tips on getting him to eat it?

Well, if he doesn't happen to like liver, you might have to resort to hiding it LOL

Just like people, all dogs have particular things they like and don't like. Most often it's veges ;) My boy, for example, loves liver - but he's not particularly keen on kidneys.

Two things you could try: One is cutting up the liver and "disguising" it in some minced up meat (hamburger, or minced chicken if you're only feeding chicken at this stage). It could be that he'll develop a taste for it in time (quite likely even).

The second possibility is just trying different liver - beef liver is likely to be a bit more palatable for him than chicken liver. Not sure why it matters, but often it does. I notice it more with cats than dogs, but they definitely prefer the offal of some animals over others.

Im wondering about the gas thing too. OMG yesterday maverick had the worse gas i have ever smelled in my life. it was an all day thing ewww. im thinking the reason behind this deadly gas is bc sat night i asked my sister in law to feed maverick and i had the pumpkin/yogurt mixture and the bag of backs and necks onthe top shelf. well i also had chicken gizzards and hearts on the 2nd shelf. well i told her that he would kinda gag himself bt if he chews the bone up its ok. well she left a message on my phone telling me that she thought that she fed the wrong stuff so she fed him the gizzards and hearts instead he ate a whole 3/4 of a lb of gizzards and hearts and hes only eaten thenm one timeand that was one of each i was like well we wil see if he has a reaction to gizzards and hearts and thank goodness he didnt. but yeah im sure thats where the gas came from.

Last week Zoe had gotten into our outside garbage can and feasted on day old chicken skin that I had cut off. Ewww is right. She is 4.5 months old now, and pretty petite, but man, for such a little girl she was sure able to stink up the entire house! She wasn't exactly thrilled with the aroma either!

Zoe will eat anything, and I consider myself lucky. Have you tried giving your pup liversickles? Zoe enjoys a frozen treat every now and then...maybe your baby will too?

Good luck!
