Does he look 12 weeks old to you?

It is hard to tell. Maybe one of the puppies died?
At any rate, you can look at my pictures of Felix in my gallery. The four pictures taken when he was youngest were at 11 weeks. He tended to weigh about 1 lbs. for every week for the longest time, so he was about 12 lbs. at 12 weeks. But i thought he was small too! . I hadn't seen many boxer pups though.

one piece of advice and this isn't meant to sound harsh but get a new vet quickly. A vet that can't decipher a boxer from a pit is truely a very unknowledgeable vet. Then on top doesn't know what colors they come in is a big red flag. I'm fairly dog savvy but just from watching dog shows on animal planet can tell you the colors a Bull Mastif or most any other dogs and I've never owned one. Maybe there was a still born a birth and thats why you only saw 8, but whatever the reason I don't condone BYB but all dogs born deserve a loving home like you are giving him, don't let it bother you. I rescued my girl at 10 months and the first few months of having her a night didn't go by that I didn't dwell on where she had been before or what she looked like as a puppy, don't worry about the unknown or things you can't change, he's your baby now just love and take care of him and don't get to mad when he chews your favorite pair of shoes.

We moved out of town and do not have that vet anymore. Although, I would rather have a vet who doesn't know every single thing about every single breed and who is willing to listen to me and believe me when I tell him than one who thinks they know everything there is to know and basically tells me I am an idiot when I tell them something different. I had that problem when I lived in TX and had a greyhound, you can't use regular anesthetics with greyhounds, they tend to have pretty bad reactions to them and I had a vet argue with me for 20 minutes once when I told her she couldn't give them to my greyhound when he got his teeth cleaned. I was willing to pay the extra money to have the special anesthisia, you would think she would have said ok and left it at that. Ha! I left and took my business elsewhere obviously.

Anyway, I feel badly that I perpetuated a bad BYB, not that I have my darling little baby. I love him so much and I wouldn't go back and change anything about him. This thread has really been more about wondering whether my suspicions have a basis or whether I am paranoid.

well regardless I'm glad you have a new vet but knowing the difference between a pit and boxer or knowing the colors they come in is far different than knowing what anesthesia to use on a dog. me personally I want a vet that knows all, would you want to go into surgery telling your Dr. how to remove your gall bladder. Like I say I know a lot about dogs probably far more than any average joe should know but I pay my vets good money to make the decisions regarding my dogs health and safety, if I don't agree, which has happened many times in the past (do to allergy problems) I voice my concerns and expect my comments and/or questions to be heard or answered but if my vet didn't know the right anesthesia to use on my dog or wouldn't listen to me when I was right about something that serious I'd not only leave but I'd tell anyone else going to that vet the disservice they are doing.
I do realize the point of this thread and I do think your worrying over nothing, its a question you'll never know the answer to so why bother wondering, I guess time may tell if your dog is grown and on the small side then he probably was a runt, if hes normal size or bigger than you may have been right, but dogs are so different, and grow differently so really you'll never truely know. I wish you the best and heppy growing.

It is hard to tell from pictures but I don't see why the byb would lie about the age either. Abbie was tiny when we got her at 10 weeks and looked younger than what she was, she still looks like a puppy and will be 2 at the end of October. Either way your guy is a cutie!

thanks for the adorable pics. Abbie really did look a lot younger, and still does! (she is just precious BTW) I guess its just my paranoia talking, its possible he just looks young for his age. Like its been said in this thread already though, its not like it matters, I wouldn't change him for anything. I love my little hurricane (and he lives up to that name, believe me!)

What boxer puppy doesn't live up to that name?!

I am not sure why Abbie looks so young, I always have people who think she is just a young puppy. She does still have that puppy face and with her small size, she looks like a 6 month old. I love her small size though, easier to cuddle with.

I also wanted to apoligize about the picture of Abbie at 10 weeks, the tape and plastic on the wall behind looked terrible. The window was busted out and hadn't been fixed yet at that point.

So True!! My boys didn't have droopy jowels as puppies but got droopier with age. It's not exactly like boxers come in 26 colors either. Good luck with vet search, and remember that everything blossoms with love!

When Lance was 12 weeks old he weighed about 15 lbs. Here's a pic of him around that age. But there seems to be quite a bit of variability in boxer puppy sizes. He's now 16 weeks and at least 25lbs.

Hurricane is adorable! I have two furbabies that were adopted. Roxy and my 12yr old cat Nala were both abandoned at a very young age so my 'trusted vet' just gave me approx birthdays. Seems strange to me that a breeder would lie about the age of one of their pups though :confused:
