Does he look 12 weeks old to you?

Ok so the more I read here on BW the more I am slightly suspicious of the breeder we got Hurricane from. First of all, now that I know what a BYB is, that is where we got him (don't shoot, I didn't know any better!). They told us he was 12 weeks old when we got him, but looking back at the pictures and then looking at other pictures here on the site, he doesn't look that old to me. He looks a lot younger. He weighed 8 lbs when we brought him home, what do you think???

How old does he look to you? Do you think they lied about his age? What reason would they have for doing that, if they did? Any input is appreciated.

Small for 12 weeks, I'd say. But I'm certainly no expert. I'd say somewhere closer to 8 weeks in the photo, just based on that's pretty much what Java looked like when we got her at 8 weeks old. But, 8 weeks is still an ok age to bring home a puppy. Could also be the runt of the litter. Who knows? Still, a cute puppy!

Hmmm... I'm just trying to remember what both mine looked like at 12 weeks old. I do have a few pictures below when they were probably 9 or 10 weeks old.

This is Bosco at about 10 weeks old: He does look a little bigger than Crash was at that age.

Your baby does look a bit small to be 12 weeks old in that picture, but he is absolutely adorable!!!

Pictures can be deceiving, so I'd hate to speculate from that. However, my Beau weighed 8lbs at 6 weeks. It's possible Hurricane is just on the smaller side, but 8lbs at 12 weeks seems pretty small to me. As to why they'd lie (IF in fact they did), a lot of BYBs lie about the age/birth date to get the pups sold sooner.

Regardless of the circumstances, Hurricane is absolutely adorable!! lovicon

Hard to say in a photo but cooper was 8 lbs at 7 weeks he does still have the puppy belly of a younger then 12 week older I wonder why they would lie? There are pictures of Cooper at 13 weeks in my gallery at 15 weeks he was 23 lbs

He does look pretty small in that pic, but anything is possible. Cooper was 13.5 pounds at 8 weeks when we brought him home. If anything they might be off by a couple of weeks, but like you said, why would they bother to lie about his age? Hmmm.. Anyway, he is precious and lucky to have you. :)

It's hard to tell from the picture. We go Apollo at 11 weeks and he weighed 12 pounds then, Rocky on the other hand weighed 15 pounds at 12 weeks. It is hard to tell what pups are going to weigh at that age but if you go by weight alone, odds are he's not as old as they said. Some BYBs will do anything to make that buck, and lying is not above them. He is fortunate to have you, someone that obviously cares deeply for him:)
