Every morning at 6am, Mugsy and I walk about 2 miles. We walk shorted distances when the weather is too humid. He gets so excited when he sees me get out his harness and leash. Sometimes I will walk him in the eveing too. He does run and play in the yard and at the dog park, but he still loves his walks. The other day we couldn't go because of a thunderstorm and he sat in front of his leash and cried. It was so cute. On the weekends, he'll get right in my face and cry to let me know it's time for his walk. I don't even know why I have an alarm clock with Mugsy around.

Mieke and I walk every day, twice. 20 mins in the morning and 20-30 in the evening. We just got back a little while ago from our walk and we passed by a house having a yard sale. The woman having the sale was sitting in the driveway and called out to me, "You have a BEAUTIFUL dog!".lovicon I think Mieke would spontaneously combust if we didn't walk. She loves it.

Beasley and I used to walk a lot more but since I got the yard fenced it's not as much of a necessity for exercise. We do, however, go hiking on trails at one of our large city parks in Indy and we use this time to practice social skills. I'm working on teaching him 'stille' (german for silent/still) when other people and dogs approach so that he knows not only to sit, but to be calm (instead of lunging or chasing the people/dogs) and wait for the 'ok' so we can continue walking. He seems to enjoy these walks because they're in the woods and not on pavement. Plus we get the added bonus of spotting all kinds of other animals like deer. My little nature boy!!!!

Walks get me out of the house!

I love to walk Samson every chance I get. We mainly stay at my bf's house with him and the central air in that house is turned up to body preservation level, his grandfather keeps it that way. So I can't stand being in there. As soon as I start to get cold, I take him out for a walk around. The neighbors all look forward to seeing him. We see dogs sometimes but most of the time its people and kids. He gets so much attention- people will stop their cars in the middle of Main St. and talk to him! Sometimes we go to my parents house which has a huge backyard and he plays with the neighborhood kids and the fish in the pond and the cat. Samson would choose a nice long walk over the most caroby, peanut buttery treat anyday!

Shellso- Sorry I have no advice- I can just say I feel ya! My boyfriend got me Samson for my birthday, but whenever people see him and say how great he is my boyfriend says its his dog! I'm like, HELLO IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY PRESENT! Then when its time for a walk, hes like, hey go walk your dog! I make it seem like a big deal, but the truth is, I enjoy our walks!

Max loves his walks. I try to walk him about 20 minutes in the morning before work and at night either my husband or I walk him usually about an hour. We also have a fenced in yard but unles someone is out there he usually bangs on the door to come back in.

I try to walk Harley as much as possible, but we have 2 acres and he gets great exercise in the yard. He does love to walk though, he used to enjoy taking me for walks, actually, then I invested in the Sporn no-pull halter and its teaching him how to walk nicely with me.

The only thing is he doesnt meet too many dogs. We met the little bichon down the road, and he's played with the neighbord Rottie, Baron, once or twice. And then one time at the dead end two pit-mixes came barraling towards us from their house.. i remember tensing up b/c I didnt know where the owner was. Harley just stood still and let them sniff him, when the owner came out (apoologizing) I let him sniff and play a bit too. Those girls were really nice, but when two unleashed dogs come racing towards you and your pup its an uneasy feeling!

I really should bring him to the park to walk more, I bet he'd meet more people and dogs... its just so darn hot!

Sorry I kinda got off the sibject, kinda... haha.

Maya, my wife and I walk together first thing in the morning (6:30) for about 1/2 to 3/4 hour. We have trails by our house so most of this time she is off-leash. Then at lunch I come home and often walk her downtown. Again about 1/2 hour, on leash. She gets lots of attention then.

Then, many evenings we go to a local conservation area where Maya can run free again. She sticks with us really well. Most of the time runs ahead about 100 feet and then stops and waits for us to catch up. Then off she goes again.

We always bring water with us due to high heat and humidity (especially lately) and we all stop for a drink every 15 minutes or so.

Maya is an excellent hiker. Very glad she doesn't always have to be leashed.

We used to walk Auggie everyday, but since he got a little sister and a fenced in yard we walk the dogs about once a week. They have pretty intense romping sessions in the house and in the back yard. They get plenty of exercise and socialize with the surrounding neighbors quite a bit.

I can't walk long distances so Gunther is the one that takes Isabelle for her walks. Gunther gets up about 5am., shaves and has his coffee, by then Isabelle is up and ready to go for her walk, they leave the house about 5.30am. and get back about 7.30am. We then all have breakfast, and it is out in the garden for the rest of the day, it is quite hot at the moment, yesterday it was 31 degrees C. Isabelle has her wading pool to keep her cool. At around 7.30 or 8.30pm (it depends on the heat of the day), they go for another walk, this time it is only for 1 hour, by then Isabelle is ready for her bed! (That is after she has raced around the yard a time or two after being let of her leash!)
