Is there a choice???

Foreman is our first Boxer and sleeps on all our couches and beds. We have a lot of ceramic and hardwood and he was too cold when he was a baby to stay down.

Our last dog was only allowed in the kitchen and he did sleep on the couch there, when he got sick we let him through the whole house he was not a boxer.

The breeder told us that Foreman would train us on the furniture we laughed but guess what they were right

my dogs too allow ME on all their furniture and bed! i can't imagine going to bed at night and not cuddling with my babies!

Diesel and Lilly are allowed on the couch, they fight over who gets to lay on top of Dad in the recliner. They are allowed in the bed when dad works overnight as I get lonely (SSSHHHHHHH he has no idea)

Since Emma is a puppy, we've allowed her on our furniture. Now we are wondering if this was a mistake because our furniture is now her springboard for boxer burns; she sails of the tops of the couches and chairs. She also ricochets off the top of the furniture and looks as though she is trying to give herself more airtime to catch her prey..."Yicks"! Deeg sits on my lap, but usually does not get on the furniture. Every night, after dinner, Deeg crawls into my lap until my legs go numb.

Smith & Wesson are allowed on everything, except the bed when my husband is home. He's a firefighter so he's gone for at least 24 hours at a time. They know that when he is gone they are allowed on the bed. It's amazing how smart they are! When my husband leaves early in the morning to go to work, they sit on the couch and watch him through the front window. Once his truck pulls out of the drive way and down the street they come running into bed with me. They love to sleep under the covers. My husband pretty much knows they sleep in the bed when he's gone. I think he just tries to block it out or something.

Falko is allowed on anything in the house, which is why the kids have began closing their doors at night and during the day. Falko roams the house at night sometimes looking for someone else to sleep with, so the kids close their doors now so they don't wake up. When I leave the house and think I need to put him in his crate, I will call him and he immmediately runs to the couch and put his head down like "please don't put me in there, I will behave" I promise!"

Lisa knows that she is not allowed on any of the furniture but once we turn our back she´s on the sofa. If we happen to leave the door open when we go out she will be on it, evidence from the hair and wet marks on the cushions. If my daughter arrives home before me she can not get Lisa off the sofa. She will growl at her. So she has to be tempted off with food, mainly sausages. Once she got in to the bedrooms and ran riot. She actually slept with her head on the pillow. She knows when we are arriving home, she will move to her own bed then.
Sometimes we will let her lie beside either one of us on the sofa and she will grunt if disturbed.
I grew up with the dogs allowed to sleep on the end of the beds but they when cairn terriers, much smaller. Even when I go home to Ireland the family dog will leave my mothers bed and sleep with me. Always has done probably always will.

Rogue just jumps on my bed & she gets told 'Off'. I'm trying to train her that she can only come on the sofa, or bed when we say so, not when she says so.

She loves the sofa though. lovicon

Laughing out loud here because i love the fact they are mostly the same. I agree with the earlier post "do we have a choice"? Ours are allowed everywhere...they fight over laps on couches and in the bed. Our furniture needs to be replaced so its not like they can really damage it any more than it already is. They love to spring from the chaise lounge, to the bed, to the window ottomans and then downstairs to every couch they can find. I am sure that will change if we ever buy nice furniture, but i doubt we could ever keep them completely down!
Something wonderful at the end of a day in pj's with a dogs head in your lap snoring! I'll take it!
