Austin's Mom-
Thank you. That is just what I do. Like I said, I am not ashamed of it. It could be worse, right? I could pick my nose or something like that!
Now THAT is gross. Sorry, but I'd take the thumb any day!

I know that I'll never be able to stop, nor do I have any urge to. I just wonder what I'm gonna look like when I'm 80, sitting in my rocking chair with my thumb in my mouth!!!!

I have so many weird things that I probably should be on Medication.

1) I type words with my hand as well.
2) If I am not driving, I try to tap my foot every time the car goes over a broken line in the middle of the road, if we are on a highway, I try to do this with the orange things on the guard rails or the little sticks they put on the road.
3) Kind of gross, but I must have a pair of socks that have been washed no more than 3 times. 3 times and they are thrown away. Before I go to bed, I have to take my socks off and clean the sock fuzz from between my toes.
5) I cannot have anything touching my feet while I sleep. I rub them together to go to sleep.
6) It drives me crazy when someone opens medicine packages vertically rather than horizontally. Sudafed is made with a perforation between each 2 horizontal rows and my husband opens one from one row and one from another row just to drive me crazy.

I don’t think you want to hear all of them that is just a few. Maybe I have an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. ;)

I thought I was the only one with some of these habits!!
1 I have chapsticks EVERYWHERE!! But not regular chapstick-it has to be LipSmackers watermelon-it has the smoothest application and it doesn't taste too strongly
2 I have to have ALL curtains/blinds closed before I go to bed every night-I would just die if I had to get up and saw someone outside one of the windows or doors.
3 I can't stand the sheets to be messy-they have to be perfectly taut on the mattress and the covers have to be perfectly smooth--also, I can't stand anything touching my feet-I ususally pull the covers off of my feet BUT...
4 I cannot sleep with anything (ie hands, feet) hanging off the bed-something DOES live under my bed and would not hesitate to grab me and take me in the middle of the night (although DH says it would bring me back pretty quickly)
5 Since DH works nights I'm VERY OCD about checking/re-checking locks and forget sleeping with a window open-DH would love to, but I just can't.
6 The dishwasher has to be loaded just so with bowls/cups/plates all going in the "correct" place and all of the matching silverware (spoons/forks/knives) have to be grouped together in the same silverware slot with tines pointed up.
7 My closet is arranged by long sleeves/short sleeves/casual pants/work pants/dresses
8 I peel all stickers off of everything! Price stickers/decorative stickers/instructional stickers-if it'll peel off I'm peelin'!!

Aaaagghhh it feels so good to be able to talk to fellow OCDers and not feel judged :)

I had someone looking in my window from a tree on my lawn one time so I always keep em closed as soon as the sun goes down! Creepy! (Shivers just thinking about it!)

This doesnt really apply to weird habits, but it reminded me about one time...i woke up to someone tapping on my window, so i ran downstairs to get my dad...when my dad went outside, it was my boyfriend. He just about killed him!! oops! i busted myself! (i think i was 15 or so)

Everything has a place in my house so everything needs to be put away. I absolulty cannot stand to see stuff lying about. Example: how some people will bring mail in and leave it on a table. That is a sure fire way to send me in a frenzy. LOL

omg i know exactly what you mean... i'm one of those people too. someone will put the remote down on the coffee table and i will move it back to it's "right" spot. my fiancee think's i'm nuts! and i have to say i don't disagree with him lol.

and christa as for your creepy guy on the lawn thing, i'm so paranoid about things like that too! i remember one night years ago (i lived alone then) i got up out of bed in the middle of the night bc i thought i heard something outside. i walked to the front door to look outside through the window bc the porch light was out for some reason. there was a person standing in my porch!!!!! at three in the morning! well i screamed and fell over backwards into the kitchen, and then i looked again and realized it was, ahem... the scarecrow i had put up for halloween. i'm such a tool!!!!!! :)

Me too! Sometimes when it's really hot, I'll slide a leg out, then realize that it's out there and quickly slip it back in!

This dosn't really apply to the thread at hand but (actually...it kind of does), one night my sister and I were home alone, we were watching TV in the living room and heard this "thudd, thudd" against the side of the house (right behind the couch), the curious sisters that we were, we looked through the blinds and there was a cow looking directly back at us in the pitch dark! Some of the cows had gotten out of the barn and made their way to the house! It was aweful, we screamed, then looked at eachother, then screamed and ran upstairs & called mom and dad! I think that's what triggered the "can't look through windows at night" thing for me. :o
