Princess is my first boxer baby, and I am curious about something. When they get fixed do they slow down a little. She has so much energy, mixed with aggression. She seems to like biting my son's shoes when he has them on. Do the furbabies attitudes change when they are fixed? That is my question.

Sorry to disappoint but Harley hasn't slowed down one bit.
He never did have aggression issues so I can't comment on that.

How old is your puppy?
I'm guessing younger than 5 months?
Just be consistant and don't let her get away with rough play like that, give a time-out when a time-out is in order.
She is very possibly just trying to get attention and initiate play.

Of course it's hard to comment on the issue when you aren't there to see it for yourself.

Good luck.

In my personal experience with my two boys, neither one has slowed down one bit after being neutered.

The boxer is an energetic breed. Spaying your girl will do nothing (or very little at it's best) to change her energy level or aggression.

Neither of my boys had any kind of noticeable change attitude wise after being neutered. However, they did change quite a bit, and they continue to change, with training. My suggestion to you would be to enroll in an obedience class (if you haven't already) or hire a trainer to help with your issues. Please do not just sit back and hope she'll change after being spayed, because that's definitely not the cure.

"Fixing" our boy and girl didn't change them one iota either. But I agree with the others about training. The baby nipping, nibbling thing usually won't go away on its own, they are very mouthy doggies. I learned about this from this boxer world group before I even got my babies. They are also very smart, didn't take long for either one to realize play ended if teeth touched my skin.

Now when play, and the mouth and face are involved in any way, it cracks me up cause they are so concious of the no teeth thing, when they hold their mouth open to play, their lips all sag in and sorta fold over the teeth and they look like little old wrinkled toothless men, so funny.

About the energy, yep, high energy dogs! Lots of great ideas on this board to keep them occupied, and excersized. That is one of the reasons I chose boxers, I loved the idea of perpetual puppies! But I knew it was a trade off of time and energy on my part. I learned if I trained them correctly it helps. But still is like having a perpetual toddler around....fun fun fun (wink)!

The only thing that has calmed Angel down is the aging process! lol! She is maturing I guess, she is almost 5! She was exactly the same after we got her spayed and as for Frank...well atleast he stopped .....well "attaching" himself to people's legs or Angel once he was neutered! I hope that was delicate enough! Lol!

Thought I could help you some........I have a male and a female now. I had a brindle female losing her at 10&1/2 yrs young. My females had a magic age and that was 3 yrs young before they really calmed down but until the day JoJo died she could be easily excited. My male (Sarge 1 yr)on the other hand is very excited to see anyone- not a jumper- greets so nice- plays like a wild man with Sammyjo (3 yr female)but at 1 he has such a calm, I am huge manner about him. Thank God he is this way at 80 lbs!!!!!!! I like his calm manner and wonder whether its a male thing or I got lucky???????? I am still trying to figure out how to post a pic!!!!!!Biting the shoe thing is a pup thing with boxers, especially if when you aren't looking your son teases her with his feet (as my son did). Gotta love them boxers......................Jewel

:D Boxers are lovers not fighters!

Age is the only thing that will slow your boxer pup down and even then not very much. My 2nd boxer was 12 years old when he passed away and I can tell you he chases babies, nibbled and licked toes, brought out toys for tug of war games right up until the very end. Training will mean the difference between a happy, playful pup and an out of control pup.

Thank you for the helpful tips. I plan on putting her in obiedence school, when she has all her shots. Which is coming up real soooon :D . I just have to manage to leash train her. It is funny, because she knows how to sit, give me paw, come, down, and is potty trained. She absolutely hates the leash. I will manage to figure it out I am sure.
