The only time Sirus barks is when he's in the mood to play or when he's "talking back"...which is very rare. There have been times where he has barked at strange noises...but he never just barks to bark.

Sarge hardly ever barks, even when someone comes in the house he doesnt bark. The only time Sarge barks is when he is outside and wants to come in the house.

It's funny that this post came up. I was just doing some research on the same subject. Chula has recently started barking in the car and with the windows closed, it's about enough to drive me to drink.

I think part of the problem is that when she was little we'd hold her up front in the passenger seat. (Bad idea, I know.) Now that she's getting bigger, she has to ride in the back. She usually does fine, but as she starts to get tired, she'd rather be on someone's lap. That's when the barking starts. I've tried using the command "hush", but she only stops for a minute or so. I've looked into other options and am considering using a water bottle. I hate the idea, but telling her to hush every minute seems to be teaching her that she'll get attention if she keeps barking.

Any ideas on this one? The car seems to be the only place she does it.

Harley Barks when he wants attention... it usually coinsides with the Wookie noice he makes. Also to talk back.

Lately he's gotten to where we will lay over the top of the couch to look out the window and do a low growl whenever someone walks by our yard (its 150+ft. to the road from our home) he only barks when they actually walk up to the house. I think he's practicing for when he's all grown as he's only 4 1/2 mos. old now.

Boxer Insane
I have always lived in an apartment with katie, so i have tried to keep her barking to an absolutely minimum. I have lately been trying ot teach her to bark once and then come sit my me until she gets more info. But she hardly ever barks outside the warning ones. But dogs, especially boxers, are like kids every one is different. And lots of FUN!

Ginger is not a "barker". She does bark to alert us someone is outside and when she is on guard. She does bark once in awhile to get our attention.
I am so glad not a constant barker, sorry can't stand to hear dogs barking 24/7. You do not have to worry about that with a boxer:)

Boxer Pal
Our Lacy only barks when the door bell rings or when us humans start play wrestling and she wants in. Otherwise, she is very quiet.

Xena never barks, and I have said before, we weren't sure she knew how!! When she does, I think she scares herself!! :p
Spirit on the other hand, is 5mths old now, and he is VERY vocal! He barks at sounds, objects he is not familiar with (like a big yellow picnic table at the park  )...he barks like a maniac at my tubberware container of spaghetti...the sound of it when we shake it! And his bark is so funny...like a seal..."O...O...O" and sometimes it sounds like "OW...OW..OW"! The 2 of them sit at the front door and now when Spirit barks at anything...Xena joins in! We are teaching Spirit "No Bark", and he's learning, but a few "OW'S" escape him when he is excited! I was wondering if it's more of a brindle factor, since Xena did not display half the behaviour as Spirit does?

Sharon- It is definetly NOT a brindle factor!!!! My male fawn is such a barker! He barks at everything!! I kind of like it cause he lets us know that someone is lurking somewhere outside. But he rubbed off on his little brother who is a brindle so now I have two barkers on my hands!!

Completely Boxer Crazy
My ginger doesn't bark much. But sometimes she does bark when doing the "talking back" thing. otherwise she mostly only barks when our 3yr. old mixed breed does, like when someone comes to the door.
