I am shopping for a digital camera but I`m very confused. I know about the higher the mega pixels are the better the quality the picture but I`m not sure what brand cameras are better, the prices vary so for the same features. Also I`m not sure how to decide what I really need. Up until now I have just been scanning photos. Any advice will be helpful :)

Does your computer have USB ports? If so, I would go with a USB connection. As far as brands go like anything else you are paying for the name. We have a Sony Cybershot. What I liked about it was that I could see the picture I was taking while taking it. It also has a zoom lense, which I think is just preference. Are you going to use the camera enough to use a memory stick or card? No matter what camera you decide to go with you may want to make sure you can get a memory stick for it, in case you decide you later you are using it more than you thought you would. Also on the pixel the monitor only sees 72 pixels and unless you have a really good high quality photo printer, you won't notice too much of a difference either.

I think it is mostly preference. It took me a long time to buy the camera we have. It was suppose to be for my husband for Christmas and I spend forever looking at them. I like you didn't have a clue about cameras. Don't kid yourself, my husband is telling me what to type now. At any rate, I use our camera a lot. I love it. If we can be of any further help let us know.

My first digital was a Fuji MX1200 (I think), it was great. Very useful, we used it for about 2 years. I am very impatient when it comes to down loading from the camera. Plus, when we got it, we never got the AC adapter. We were spending so much money on battaries for it!

Last week we went out and bought another one. I am absolutely in love with it. It is a Sony Mavica, the best part about it is that it writes to a mini cdr/rw. It came with an adapter so the cd will fit in just about any computer. Plus it has mpeg w/sound capabilities. I am just getting to know the camera but, the picture quality is incredible. When you purchase a Sony, they have a place for you to go on the internet to post all your pictures, and you can get 10 free 4x6 prints a month for 5 months. I ordered my first batch last Sunday, in addition to a couple 8x10's and 5x7's, I got them on Wednesday. Fantastic! They were beautiful.

But it is best to figure out what you want, what your computer can handle, and what price range you are looking for. There is a digital camera out there for just about anyone. Good luck! Can't wait to see the pictures when you get your camera.

I have a Sony Mavica MVC FD173. I am really enjoying it. You don't need and software or leads. It takes floppy disks so you take the floppy out of the camera and load it straight into the computer. The camera has a zoom lens as well as a macro for really close-up shots, The other features include, sepia, black & white, negative and solarize. There are different sizes, E-mail, standard or fine. You can also darken or lighten the photo, it has three flash settings, and a display feature. You can also switch to 'picture' and see all of the ones you have already taken. It also has a format feature for the floppy disk. It is a little larger than some Digital Cameras but I think it is worth it.

Right now I use an Aiptek Pen Cam, It's a James Bond kind of digital camera that takes photos, video or web cam. It's pretty neat, really small & slim (fits in the palm of your hand) but you need new batterys practically every time you use it even though the brochure reads that they will last for 2 weeks if camera is left in the on position. NOT!

Anyway, what I wanted to tell you was a while back someone posted pictures of their boxers on here and the pictures were fantastic, even extreme close ups. I asked what kind of camera she used and she said it was a Kodak DC215 digital camera.

kodak dc290

I have a kodak dc290. It is a great camera. The image quality is awesome. It will do up to 3.1 mega pixels. It has a USB interface. It can can be had for under $400. With this camera and our HP DeskJet 970 printer you can make pictures that rival a 35mm camera. Go to this URL to see a sample picture...

My digital camera(casio 2.1 mega pixels) takes quality photos IF the "subject"is very close to the lens, about from 20cm to 1 1/2 - 2 m.
I'm not very pleased of the landscape photos, these are just "fair"
Has somebody any problem like this?
