We got our new baby Rayna on Saturday. She is 10 weeks old and just the sweetest. I have been working on crate training. That is going quite well compared to some posts I have been reading. I knew to expect the barking and whining and I fully expected it to go in for hours on end, it hasn’t to my relief. Now, don’t get me wrong she does do all of that just not for hours. At night when all the lights are off, I play instrumental music for her and drape a towel over the front of her crate and she settles down in just a few minutes. We only have to go out once maybe twice during the night. Here is the thing if I can’t be in the room with her she goes into the crate all things the same as the night, but on occasion she throw a real temper tantrum. There’s barking, growling, whining, and after about 20 minutes or so she wares herself out and goes to sleep. When I go to get her out there is foamy slobber on the crate door and drool in puddles on the floor of the crate, she is wet and slimyfrom laying in the stuff. If I put a towel in with her then it is wet. Has anyone else had this happen? I know not to let her out or talk to her or anything while she is doing this. I’m just curious.

i don't think this is anything serious to worry about here. you are doing the proper thing in ignoring her and letting her tire herself out. if it is taking 20 minutes for her to do so, then hopefully in time it will decrease to a lower time. i would not recommend putting in any towel with her.
try exercising or tiring out your dog out before placing her in the crate, and don't forget to give her a potty break immediately before placing them in the crate if you do play with them.
at 10 weeks old, she is still getting accustomed to the crate and her surroundings, so just keep on doing what you are doing and they should be fine.

never too early to start some obedience training as well. this will help exercise their brain also and let them get tired a bit easily. just keep the training sessions down to a a minute or two and in intervals. they are stil very young and don't want to burn them out.

good luck. keep us posted on how things are going.

Does she have any toys or treats in her crate with her? A food toy (like a Kong) might distract her from her temper tantrum and help her settle down.

I didn't have this happen with either of mine, and I don't think it is anything serious. She is just working herself up and getting upset. With time she will get more accustom to it and you will probably see it diminish along the way. I would continue doing what you are doing. She will soon get used to the routines.

I think she just gets herself that worked up, the foamy spit is inevitable. Try a stuffed kong. See if that is enough to keep her from escalating.
