I learned today that my fur baby's daddy, Dempsy, passed away last night. As my Mom told me about it, and the journey he helped his human Dad through it brought tears to my eyes and wanted to share it with you all as I wish Dempsy safe passage at the bridge. Dempsy was Randy's pup and they were attached at the hip. They had a love filled life together and were there for each other through thick and thin, all the way up to the end. Randy was diagnosed with cancer a few years back and as he battled with his illness Dempsy kept by his side, helping him find the courage to fight and wake up each day. Randy passed away early last week. Dempsy was noticeably devastated by the loss of his best friend. I was told he just laid around and kept looking to the chair that Randy frequented. Two days ago he started to show signs of sickness other than just heart break. He was taken to the vet and they found his body was riddled with cancer himself. I was told the vet said it was a fast acting cancer and spread quickly. My 5 year old niece was sitting at the table when my Mom was telling me all this and as she finished she grabbed my Mom's hand. She looked at us innocently and said as only a child could, "Grammy, Dempsy wanted to make sure Randy made it to God ok...and then Randy whistled for him to be by his side."

I lost my dad and my 1st boxer 3 days apart. My father loved that dog. I was comforted knowing they made the trip together. RIP Randy and Dempsey, may your journey be short and the destination amazing.

It is amazing how some things work out. Now Randy and Dempsey can rest in peace, as they still have each other.

Tears in heaven

Amazing story and makes me wonder if some day I will be met by the sloberry kisses of my old boy Bailey who just passed away Friday. Dempsey following his old friend makes me think of the Eric Clapton song, 'Tears in heaven', after my boy left our world that song took whole new meaning. I picture my old boy with my dad who passed away in 2003 an my grandpa who was an avid dog lover who passed in 2005. Thank God for Boxers!

May Randy and Dempsey rest in peace, and may Randy's family and friends find some comfort in the vision of them being together in a wonderful place.
