Help!!...... I think I am turning into Rip van winkle.....I had yesterday off work, and got up around 7.45am..quite a lay in for me...I mooched round a bit, and felt so tired, that I went back to bed for a little kip around 11am, and I slept soundly till 6pm!!! .....I got up, and took my quilt to the sofa and went to sleep again till about 9.30pm....then I woke up just long enough to go to bed, where I slept all night till 9am!!
today, I have been asleep for another 4 hours during the day!!! what is happening? I think I've gone into hibernation mode!!...since yesterday I have gone through two big bottles of lucozade (energy drink) in an effort to stay awake, but It's not working....I feel so sleepy...I feel the urge to go look at the insides of my eyelids again YAWN.... any Ideas on how to stay awake???

I was feeling the same way lately. In part it was because of a flare-up of a condition I have (Ulcerative Colitis) and I also came to the conclusion that I needed more Iron. I started taking an Iron supplement a few days ago and it seems to be helping. I don't eat a lot of red meat, so I had 2 strikes against me with that and the bleeding from colitis. Maybe you are low on Iron (especially if you don't eat a lot of red meat or leafy green vegetables).

Well, here is my "two cents" worth...

I feel that way occassionally, and when I do, I listen to my body. If it wants to sleep, I just let it sleep. And yes, I feel guilty about it... I should have done this, or that, or I wasted a whole day. But I ignore those feelings of guilt. If my body is tired, it's tired.

I think spending a weekend sleeping is just fine. BUT, I would be careful and pay attention to it too. If it lasts for days or weeks at a time, something else may be going on, and I'd see a doctor!

But I think if you are feeling fine (mentally and physically), I wouldn't worry about it.

Just "sleep it off"!! ;)

are you stressed out or depressed about anything? I know I can run on empty for weeks and deal with stress, etc with little ill effect, and then suddenly I will completely start to shut down...usually I don't even realize I was stressed about something and then I just get sooo tired I can hardly stay awake (and normally I sleep very little in general) and it will dawn on me that I have been going through a stressful phase or had alot to deal with...its my poor body's way of telling me to take a step back and relax and let go...

I've got the solution!! Share with me please. I only got 2 hours of sleep last night. I couldn't fall asleep for anything. I went to bed at 1am and didn't fall asleep until after 4am. Then I woke up a couple hours later due to the storms that came through. :(

Could be your body is just worn down and needed the extra rest. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it persists. If you can't do your job because of being tired then I'd call a Dr. just to be sure, maybe you're catching a cold even. In any case I'd enjoy it and rest up while you can.

Thanks everyone, for all your input It has made me look at things that I didn't realise were going on in my life.
I have been under tons of pressure at work lately, and am feeling really wound up and stressed out by it all...Then by the time I get in I only have time for a bath, and a quick meal before It's time for bed, as I have to get up really early everyday. I am on my feet for 12 hours a day for work ( I swear my feet resemble pigs trotters, they are so well used ),and only get one sit down on my hour lunch break...then there is the commute to deal with...weekends are spent trying to catch up on housework...I suppose like most of us here, there is very little 'me' time ( I usualy manage to squeeze in a few hours on BW :) )...I suppose I have just reached a point where my body says Stop,,,but I have always been stubborn, and have refused to listen!!...SO...I have been thinking that I should change career, and for the first time ever find a 'sit down' job...something with less hours, and certainly less stressful!...life is too short, (well mine certainly is..Big birthday next month!!)...So thanks again for letting me whinge on..at least I am awake today!!

I say sleep when you want to sleep and party when you don't. Your young enough to know the difference. Good luck on finding that new career. 12 hours is a long time on your feet..I know I've done it. I know your gonna be pissy :)D ) for me saying this, BUT your not getting younger and if I was you I'd do what makes me happy!!

You may be coming down with something Britbox, when you're under stress you seem to pick up the slightest little thing going.
Why don't you take Monday off and have a bit more r & r to get yourself back on track?

Hope you feel on top of things soon
