Okay my 14 week old puppy does this crazy run! She runs at top speed all over the house for 10 to 15 minutes almost every night. She gets taken on 3 to 4 walks a day and we make sure we play with her a lot and try to make sure we have our little training sessions at least once a day, twice if we can. Does anyone else have a dog that does this? Is it just a stage she's going through, or does she need even more excersise during the day?

Sounds like boxer "burns" to me. Just wait till the little puppy gets bigger and still burns around the house. Astro uses the couch to change directions.

Nothing is wrong with your pup...she is just happy. She is doing a "Boxer Burn" or a run that only Boxers do. It is so much fun to watch! And like previously said just wait until she is bigger and banks off furniture to turn. :) Chops (75 lbs) does this at least twice a day...along with my four year old son close behind.

hehehehehe i love it. I used to call it the crazy puppy run. They tuck their rear ends and get low and run full speed all over in crazy circles. I love it.

But...get used to it. We still get the crazy puppy runs all over the house and they are over a year now. They were doing it the other night and Ozzy went flying up on the sofa and hit the wall behind it. He actually knocked some paint off the wall and woke my husband who was asleep upstairs. Surprised he didn't go through the wall actually.

This isn't a puppy thing, it's a TOTAL Boxer thing. Every Boxer I have ever known has done this, it's just another of their many endearing qualities. Bentley will do this for 10 or 15 min. and then lay down and fall fast asleep as if he just fell over dead.

Sounds like a boxer burn.

Johann always gets a crazy look in his eye, then growls at me, then proceeds to run around for 10 minutes or so until he lays down and falls asleep. Lately he's starting do boxer burns in place on our big area rug......he spins and spins in circles. I have to get it on video at some point.

Before we knew they were called Boxer Burns we called them puppy crazies!
Still doing them nearly 7 years later.
Inside the house and out.
She has a nice Nascar track in the backyard where the grass is worn. Had to bolt the frame of the bed together better since her inside burns involve jumping on the bed at one end and then off the other. It kept trying to slide off in the middle of the night when I would forget to put it back to its proper place!

AAAHHH the boxer burn.....I just love it. I have enjoyed watching it ever since we got Cody. When they burn together outside it is almost like a dance. They will both take off in different directions and then they will meet and cross all around the yard. It is one of my favorite things to watch.....the power that these dogs have is amazing....I love to see the muscles rippling as they run.

We have a 7 month old boxer and a 4 1/2 year old wheaten terrier that does this as well. Our wheaten doesn't do it as much as she did when she was a puppy, but she'll let loose once in a while.

She corners much better than our boxer does :)

Sam does this 2 - my awesome aviator pic ( well according to me - lol ) is sam in his boxer burn out back - same path every time - i stand in the middle of the yard and he flys in circles around me - i just had to pick a spot wait for him to come around - and click !! lol

reminds me of lunging the horses - just easier !!
