I totally agree with everyone else. My older sister (15 years older than me), was pretty much the same way. There certainly aren't many people out there that are blessed with such caring siblings. Good luck to you in whatever happens.

There is a program here in VA called FAMIS. It covers health insurance for children and teenagers. I'm not sure if it is a federal program or not, but maybe if it isn't, there is something in your state similar. Should the chat not work out, I would definately suggest looking into that.

You are an awesome big sister for doing this! I can't understand why your Mom would drop her from the insurance knowing she has asthma. That could be potentially a dangerous thing. Is she really that vindictive she would put her own child's life in jeopardy? I hope not. Good luck to you.

Wow, Jenny, how great it is that your sister has someone to turn to! Good for you.

As for the insurance, if she refuses to sign over guardianship, is it possible for you to offer to make payments to your mom to keep your sister on her insurance? (have no idea how health care works in the US!) Just a thought... she might be willing to keep her on in name, but not bear the expense of it.
