I woke up this morning and Sadie, my boxer, had a deep barking cough, almost like something was stuck in her throat, but she is still breathing. Other than that she seams fine. What could it be? Should I be worried?

Is there any chance of something stuck in her throat? Likely things would include rawhide - or, I guess, many things (like sticks) that you may not have seen her swallow. I'd try to see if you can see anything back there with a torch. And if not, monitor her carefully, and visit a vet if it doesn't disappear quickly.

my dogs just got over a really bad case of kennel cough but it was not the usual one. All they had was a cough and needed antibiotics and a narcotic.

Could be kennel cough, my two had a deep cough like something was stuck in their throat when they had it.

When Max had Kennel cough it sounded like there was something stuck in his throat.

He got it from the dog park. Evidently it's pretty contagious, but luckily it's very easy to treat.

Dempsey has had this same cough, but was vaccinated against Kennel Cough. Is it possible he still has it?

For him, he only coughs after rigorous activity. The vet has diagnosed him with allergies that cause post nasal drip as well as other goodies like itchy face and feet.

I am just worried it is kennel cough and everyone is missing it!

I believe so. Max was vaccinated against Kennel Cough but evidently K.C. is like the common cold in humans and there are dozens of strains and it is difficult, if not impossible, to vaccinate against all of them.

That's what we were told anyway.

The treatment was simple pills and quarantine for two weeks if I recall correctly.

It's up to you if you want to take him in, I suppose you can see if it gets better or not or was just related to his nasal drip condition. Just becareful with infecting other dogs in the meantime.

Max got K.C. from an owner at the dog park who was complaining that her dog had had something stuck in his throat for the past 3 days...as I'm watching my dog pull on the same toy as hers. fantastic. lol
