Coats for boxers??

I see alot of people getting their girls coats.. Is it very cold where you are?? I am in Nebraska (USA) and we get pretty cold winters around here typically 0-30F but the worst part is the wind chill that can make if feel more like the neg. digits.. I guess I am not sure how cold is too cold for my little one.. Should I be considering a coat to keep her warm or do people just like to have fun dressing up their dogs... curious and concerned???

Boxers arent really good at dealing with extreme temperatures. I live in SD and am originally from IA, so I know what your talking about about wind chill. All my babies have coats to wear.....it makes me feel better knowing they are stayin warm. I would put boots on them but they eat em

I am in Ohio. If it gets below 40 degrees my girl has a coat on for walks only. Short trips outside in the yard for potty breaks or play I don't put it on her. When it snows, (and she loves to be out in it) she always has her coat on!

I am also in Nebraska and I have the K-9 Overcoat from Ruff Wear for both of my boxers. I usually put them on if it is below about 40 degrees and they are going to be outside for very long at all.

Get a coat!

Boxers have very little fur covering there underside. I don't dress my boy up per say, but he does have sweaters, raincoats, booties, and a snow jacket. LOL... It is just for weather reasons and he appreciates it. Loki does not like to be wet or cold at all, and we live in an area where they put rock salt down on the sidewalks and streets. This really hurts their paws his boots help so his paws don't touch the salt.

thank you everyone for enlightening us. I honestly thought that most dogs are dressed because the owners like to not for health. We have checked out sitstay.com and the ruff coat. My bf and I are going to look at them together and measure our girl. With the colder weather that is coming and our upcoming trip to the mountains in feb. looks like we have found ourselves a needed accessory. Anyone else use any other coats we should look at?

Bailey loooves her coat, she wines for it. We live in Oregon so it is mostly just rainy, which she hates as well, but she gets cold on her feet and ears so I try to put it on her on colder days. I'm really thinking of getting her some pj's too because she keeps trying to crawl under the covers at night when she gets cold. I was just looking at Old Navy and Target and they have some cute clothes. Old Navy only had large sizes, and Bailey is pretty small, so I couldn't get one and Target only had small sizes left. So...we're still looking.

My baby girl has a sweater that I got at Old Navy last year. Always check out old navy! And she also has a corduroy jacket with sheepskin on the inside. It is pink and soooo cute! When I got it, it fit but was still too tight by her shoulders. My mom fixed it with her sewing machine which I thought was hillarious. She never thought she would alter dog clothes! But with boxer muscles there isn't much else to do!

My MIL is the seamstress in our family and she always alters things for Coco :D She even sews her things. I pick out the material & what I want and she fixes it right up. Man she's handy..

That would be great! Sometimes I find the perfect coat but it is ugly. Roxy is a princess so I want pink and purple, not an ugly yellow!
