Clearing Up A Misconception!

Awhile ago I had posted about an incident my husband had with a woman at work who was telling others how bad the Boxer breed was...lousy with kids...attack you in your sleep..etc! We were fired up by her ignorance and not long after that, I was walking Xena one night and a strange woman approaches me and began to hurl insults mixed with plenty of bad language, about how people like me should be shot for bringing a breed like the pit bull into our community!!:mad: Well, since then, with lots of help from Cindy Creel (thank you Cindy ), and her wonderful command of the English language, I sent a letter to the local newspaper for the Editors column regarding Boxers and the misconception people in this town have! The letter was printed in yesterdays paper and since then I have had 3 phone calls from other Boxer owners in town, thanking me for the great letter and for defending this wonderful breed!:D And best of all, I have made 3 new Boxer-loving friends! I feel so good about sending that letter in and I hope that it reaches the people in this town who are ignorant to this breed, and it helps to educate them so nobody else has to experience what DH, Xena and myself have.
Thanks again Cindy! You have been a great help to me in my mission to educate some residents in my community and town!

Good for you!

I get bad looks from people often while walking my dog and just want to sit them down and tell them how wonderful boxers are! I was never a dog person until my parents got thier boxer, I fell in love and had to get one of my own!

I am so glad that you spoke up and hopefully people will change their views!

Good for you I am proud of you!! I get the same looks all the time and hear people calling Sunny a pit bull also, when I walk her!! What a wonderful way to end that problem!!

Kudos to you!! I also get that sometimes. It just amazes me how many people out there act like they know what they're talking about when it comes to dogs, but they are actually clueless! I've even had a friend of mine say she had a "black" boxer! I believe it's actually a bull terrier and when I tried to tell her that, she argued with me and said the woman she got her from told her it was a boxer. I tried to explain that here's no such thing as a black boxer, but she wouldn't listen so I just gave her this website and told her to search under "black boxers". I'm sure she'll find out sooner or later

Thats awesome. I hate how people look at dogs like they are all aggressive creatures that if you come near them they will attack you unless its a lab or some small dog. I hate how boxers get bad reps by people who know nothing about the breed. Even though I don't own one I hate how everyone misunderstand pit bulls as well. Nobody realizes it's the owners that make the dogs they way they are not the dogs just being aggressive because of the "breed" I have seen pit bulls that are just as sweet and loving as my two. I am sure there are dogs that most would see as friendly that are aggressive because the way the owners treat them. Unfortunitly there aren't that many qualifications that people check for when selling or adopting a dog out to someone so they get mistreated and then in turn get bad reps. I think you may have inspired me to write something for our news paper because I too hate the way my dogs get looked at when I walk them. They are the most loving creatures and wouldn't hurt anyone unless they were threatening my wife or me or either of the dogs. Thanks for the idea. I comend you for your noble actions.
