Christmas tree pics ? .. ?? ....

ok guys ~~

tell me how u guys are getting GREAT tree pics ???? i have tried , flash on , flash off, lights on , lights off .....

i am pretty handy with a camera , but dont remember ever trying to get good pics "posed" in front of the tree. I would like to figure this out soon , so i can get some with the pups & the baby for holiday cards !!

A lot of it is the lighting. I know I've had to take the lampshade off a lamp before to get good light. (just don't stand directly in front of it or you'll get a shadow.) Also try different times of day. Treats go a long way when trying to get a pose. Where we set up out tree in this house never seems to have good light, so this year I'm looking for an outdoor spot. I just wish I knew someone with a sleigh.....

seams i either have to much light or not enough.

one the pups are clear , lights not there. other is lights look ok , pups to dark. any ideas ? should i try maybe just as it starts to get dark ? with out a flash. tree is on front of a window.

i only tried the first night we had the tree up - i didnt have time today ( was learning to make cheese !! )

any more ideas are great !!

not much help for you taking pic's but had to say how much i liked the first pic of him being naughty LOL!!!!!!!!!

In the first pic the lights are showing up good, the problem is that the flash is lighting up so much of the tree that the tree is just as bright as the lights so they don't stand out.

Try positioning the dogs farther away from the tree, so that it's in the background and not close enough to be lit up by the flash. The flash should light up just the dogs.

Or you could try positioning them just like in the 2nd pic, with flash OFF, and set a small lamp on the floor right in front of the dogs so that it lights up their faces. Just make sure the lamp is not casting much light on the tree too.

does your camera have a museum mode? I find that is really good for indoors, as it doesn't flash, but lightens up the picture automatically.

I am by the way, extreamly jealous of your tree. We always have a real tree, but last year it was my babies first Christmas and they picked the branches off!!!!!! They were only 8 and 4 months old mind, so to be safe we are not putting ours up this year until we are off work.

- dont be jealous JUST yet !! my tree is a little light , on lights now !! kush has never EVER chewed a cord - but my white lights are bit in half !!

last night her toy rolled over to the plug ... she was nosing around for it , got to the "plug in area " whimpered & backed up , looked at me like " mom PLEASE go get my toy !! " silly girl !!
