This morning we woke to the sound of Lacy whining and scratching at the closet door in our bedroom. I thought we might have a mouse, or maybe one of the kid's hamsters escaped. I couldn't imagine what she was so concerned about. So, I opened the closet door, and she put her head into the closet, and out she came with the big stuffed snowman I bought for her for Christmas. I hid it in there along with a few other purchases last night. I can't even imagine how she knew there was a dog toy in the closet since I came into the house, went straight to the bedroom and put the packages in the closet. I have become quite clever at hiding presents from the kids, but now I have to get clever with the dog!

LOL!! Its amazing isnt it? I bought my two a kong for christmas and i put it in the 4th bedroom closet where noone ever goes in. It was in a plastic bag with other stocking stuffers for us humans. i was downstairs wayching tv and things were tooo quiet. I went upstairs to check on them and low and behold they are in the 4th bedroom on the bed, closet door open, bag opened and they are on the bed with the kong ripped out of the package. They did not touch anything else. they went in got their gift and were on the bed opening it. I could not believe it , I was hysterically laughing. They just looked at me like NICE TRY DAD!!

kong toy

Hello! I'm new to BW and am a former Boxer owner and will be getting another within the next couple of years. When I saw your story on the kong, it reminded me of the toy friends of ours have -- they have another type of dog (Chesapeake Bay Retriever) who also loves his kong; however, they wedge a little doggie treat in the end so it gets stuck inside. That dog will chew contendedly on that toy all evening til the treat gets soagy and he licks it out with his tongue!!!

My girls have done this too. I bought them raw hide bones (a few years ago-since they can't eat them now) I put them in my bottom nightstand drawer. Low and behold I heard them barking in the bedroom well they had the drawer partially open and were barking cuz they couldn't get the bones all the way out lol. My husband was laughing so hard. Now this year I bought them toys (a new frisbee and a new tug toy) I put these on the counter and went back outside to empty out my truck. Well I came back in and the treats (I also bought) and both toys were missing from the bag that was now on the floor! So, now nothing is safe in my house from these little monsters I thought my kids were bad.;)

Christmas surprise.........not!

:D I thought it was only my three which opened their presents under the tree. Jazzy our brindle girl is known for opening any present with her name on it. We now have to write the other two names first so that she won't open them. I knew Boxers were smart but I didn't think they could read! But we love them anyway. lovicon

I see Lacy's not the only smart one:D She was trying to get back into the closet today, but since I wasn't groggy from just waking up, I didn't fall for it. I have some Greenies in there, and I'm determined they will make it under the tree!

I think our Boxers have ESP when it comes to ferreting out something intended for them. Scrapper can find the one toy I bought for him in the five or six Target bags sitting by the front door - and doesn't bother anything else in the process.

LoL! I made the mistake of trying to wrap Boz's presents with him in the house...Bad idea
He saw me with the bag of goodies and saw his new rope toy. WELL he just sat there crying and looking at it while I tried to wrap it. I had to give it to him as he was sooooo pathetic LoL! Oh well, it's only 1 less present under the tree ;)
