Christmas Lights: White or Colored??

We have white lights in our Star Magnolia tree and also the net white lights over a Mother's Day Azelea and around the front steps railing, then we have the timed lights down the driveway in green, red & yellow this year, (every year Gunther does a different way of lilghting). In the back garden we have white lights over two archways and along a small fence, then again, in the timed lights the same as the front. All around the house and sheds we have, this year, green, red & yellow. Nex year it may be all green.
We have some new lights in B.C. they are being tried out by certain companies chosen by B.C. Hydro, they are a most brilliant blue, they are beautiful. They are advertising that if you had six strands of ordinary lights it would cost $26.00 for lighting, using these new lights it would cost you .30 cents! They will be on the market next year.

I grew up helping dad string up colored lights on the house and tree - not those tiny little bulbs - but those big bulbs about 2" long - the kind that if one burnt out, they all did! Personally, I really love the classic look of white lights, but the colored lights really bring me back and remind me of when I was a kid, so I use both. Usually white on the tree and colored outside. There is a really neat house in my neighborhood that decorates with colored lights strewn all over made to look like Mardi Gras beads hanging off their house & trees. Really different and unusual!

I think any colored lights are nice as long as they are strung properly, there are some beautiful lights in our city here. Some are white, colored and mixed. I have white on my apple tree and ornamental jade in front and colored on the house.

i prefer the white lights...i think it looks classic..i really can't stand colored lights...i think they are cheesy...hehe...but when i was little i wanted the colored lights too...and could never understand why my mom always said no!

Well I know they are not the most beautiful thing sometimes but sometimes if you do them right colored lights are way better than white lights IMHO....The white lights are a little to department storeish for me...The colored lights remind me of when I was a kid, so that's what we have colored lights...but they don't blink and they are done tastefully...

I have a fiber-optic tree....it rotates and the lights continously changes colors.....I love it!!

I like both White and Colored lights when driving around looking at other people's decorations.
I think both can be very beautiful!!

I personally prefer white lights on my tree & indoors & colored outside. For some reason I just don't like colored lights on trees!

My grandparents have blinking colored lights on their tree that don't blink in unison & it drives me insane. I can't even look at their tree. The top will be blinking rapidly while the middle & lower section rotate blinking!
