Christmas Lights: White or Colored??

When I was a kid, I used to think that houses decorated with just plain white Christmas lights looked so plain and cheesy. I used to think that houses decorated with colored lights looked awesome!!! Now, it's the total opposite. I think colored lights look messy now, but the white lights look really beautiful!!

Just curious to see which do you prefer... white lights or colored??

My mum likes the white.... i personaly like the whites as well BUT! we have the isicle effect ones and I think it looks awsum when you have blue and white mixed together (for the icikle house lights) My mum seems to like it too, but the blinking ones are SSOOOOO annoying . :rolleyes:

I LOVE the white lites, with fresh cedar boughs and red bows on the exterior of the house. My tree is lit with white lites as well. Coloured lites are nice if they are done well, but just not my choice. I like the idea of the icicle lites done with the hint of blue in them though.

My decor is shabby chic ( so glad they renamed it from " Early Salvation Army") so mixture of colors is a must. I have done the white ones and still have the lights, but my favorites are the old fashion old fashion bubble lights. I use 32 bubbles and 500 colors that are in synchronized motion. Decorations from when the kids were in kindergarden to last years latest Hallmark.

I prefer white lights. Ever since I moved in with my boyfriend last summer, we have been debating about Christmas tree lights -- he prefers colored. After much debate, I suggested alternating each year, and I offered to let him have colored this year. (It wasn't an issue worth fighting about, and I thought I'd get some brownie points!) Turns out he told me to go ahead and do white lights this year. He likes that, so maybe he'll want to do that next year. I've told him I don't mind colored lights outside, so maybe we'll stick with white inside and colored outside. I really prefer white lights on the tree so you can see the true colors of the ornaments. In any case, I just enjoy all festive decorations, although blinking lights are a little annoying.

I've always done colored lights, and Donna, my mom has lots of the bubble lights also! I've gotta get me some. White is beautiful, just not me. If I had a solid tree, it would be purple. But actually, this year, we have a four foot fiberoptic tree, so I can keep it up away from my sweet little monster:p er.....baby!!

I don't mind colored lights on a tree if they are done nice and not blinking. However I only like white lights outside with some garland and wreaths. I am not really fond of lawn decorations

ooppss....I repeated myself..(old fashion, old fashion)..either I am getting old or I shouldnt post before cup #2 of coffee......now that I think about it...maybe both of the above apply to me....lemme get a cup of coffee and think about this some more
