Chewy is home!

After spending 5 days at the vet, and over a thousand dollars, my sweet Chewy is now back home. I believe he doesn't have to worry about the pancreatitis anymore, but his kidneys still have some work. I will have to take him in again on Monday to recheck his kidneys, but I'm just so happy and relieved to have him back home. He's still not 100% himself, but slowly and surely getting there. He will now have to be on the k/d food for the rest of his life, which is way more than I thought it was, but his health is priceless to me.

Thanks to all who have sent me so much care and support. It really helped me out a lot.

Yea for Chewy lovicon It makes you feel so bad when your babies are sick, I have been going through that myself, although I don't think Shakira was as sick as your baby. I love these people here at BW if it wasn't for them I would have been so lost as to what to do with my feelings. Hang in there Chewy and make a total recovery we are all pulling for you to do that.

So glad Chewy is home! Beau and Samantha send lots of slobbery kisses! We will keep all paws, fingers and toes crossed that his kidneys are okay!

appicon appicon...Way to go Chewy! I knew you could do it! I am so glad to hear Chewy is home and feeling much better! And believe me...I understand how you feel about the expense of feeding him! I spend about $120 a month to feed Herkie....he's on totally cans and will be forever, but the cost doesn't matter as long as he's healthy!

Hey, I'm glad to hear Chewy is home and feeling better. The k/d is a low sodium, low protein food to make it easier on the kidneys. My cat Lewis was on the feline k/d for the last six years of his life. He reallly liked the kibble. Waltham also made a low protein, low sodium food. It was only available to us through Purdue's school of vet medicine. Lewis used the canned Waltham for a couple of years, added to the kibble, but grew tired of it. At least with the precription food there is no sales tax, so a bit of a saving. I found the feline k/d to be richer than regular kibble so Lewis actually ate a smaller amount.

But it's time to celebrate because your baby is home. Hugs from us.
