It's cheap--the starter kit is $20 at Home Depot. You only need a vacuum. The starter kit only would clean a standard room but you can buy a huge tub of the powder for around $30. Actually we just bought a new vacuum and the vacuum store guy recommended the powder over a steam cleaner--no mold or mildew. I'm still keeping my steam cleaner though.

Capture sounds great! I am going to get some and it sounds so much easier than hauling out the steam cleaner! Hope it will work on a few stains from Heidi and perk up the high traffic areas on our rug! Thanks :)

Here's a link to their website for anyone who's never heard of it like me!

I love "Capture!" And I did buy the jumbo-sized tub; what with having white carpet and two boxers, two kids and a husband... It works great; that plus my new Dyson vacuum; I now have hope the carpet can retain a semblance of its original "whiteness" for as long as possible. Also, don't forget Folex - another great carpet cleaner as well.

Did anyone except me get fading Whitish spots from it? I emailed the company 3 days ago, still no reply....

I checked to see if it was safe on colored rugs. According to the description on their website, it is safe:

Capture® is safe on all carpets and rugs!
  • Capture is totally safe on all types of fibers-- nylon, olefin, polyester, wool, and even silk!
  • Capture will not void carpet warranties! Capture is approved by Dupont, Monsanto, and Allied and will not affect or harm stain resistance. Capture will not damage or discolor wool rugs!
  • Capture is safe for cleaning car interiors, furniture upholstery, and many other household fabrics. Capture cleans more than just carpets and rugs!

Looks to me like it should not have discolored your rug. :(

Thanks Catherine.
I saw it was supposed to be safe. I'm still waiting to hear back from the company. I'll let you know what they say.

We had no problem with it at all; but our carpet is white. But you need to vacuum it up completely because as long as the powder is down, it looks lighter. Sorry, I'm not doubting your experience, but when I'm using it, it does make the carpet LOOK like it has lighter areas in it. What color is your carpet?

Mine was slightly lighter. But I figured it was because I had used multiple products on it before the Capture. It's not enough to bother me--the stains were MUCH worse.

The carpet is a light brown beige color. At first i thought it was the powder still in the rug. But i vaccuumed it alot of times and it is still there. I also wonder if it may have been because I did use other cleaners in the past, most often Resolve. Maybe some type of reaction between cleaners. Well I'll see what the company says
thanks again
