A few weeks ago, somebody posted some information about a carpet cleaner they had found at Home Depot, but didn't have the name handy. Sorry I don't remember who it was, but I want to thank them for the post. The cleaner comes in a kit, it's called CAPTURE, and it works wonders!!! Got up stains from my cream-colored carpet (from Sammi's upset stomach days...yuck!) in one shot, after I tried a number of different cleaners, including steam cleaning, to no avail. Great stuff!!!

That was my post

I am glad you found the right stuff! It works wonders, and is way less work than the wet/vacume methods! We call it "carpet cocaine" at our house :D

thank you, thank you, thank you! Titus got sick yesterday in the house and I came home to 2 large piles of butt mud (yes, that is gross but the best way to put it). I cleaned up the most I could but still have some stain...now I will try CAPTURE!

Capture..I will have to look into that.

For those with steam cleaners and so forth...Shout works wonders also. Just spray it on and brush it in, let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes (like clothes) and whala run the steam cleaner over it and it disappears. I had stains I could not get out..and shout...really shoutted it out :)

That's a great idea! I never thought of trying that, but it makes perfect sense :) Thanks for the idea. I love this Capture stuff (Thanks to Prancer's Mom :) ) but I'll keep the Shout handy too.

This site is great, no matter what the question, somebody always has a helpful answer. Thanks to Olly, all the moderators, and of course, the Boxerworld family.

I used Capture over the weekend. It did clean up the stains but it also caused some areas of the carpet to turn whitish! (jt is usually a light brown!)
I'm going to contact the company.

Captures Large Areas Too?

By the way, about the Capture: Is that a spot cleaner, or can it also be used to clean large areas?

I also recently had this happen with a 409 Carpet Spot Cleaner. I was appalled, because I thought, "Maybe my whole carpet is that dirty..." But actually it took some of the color out of the carpet. I checked the bottle, and in the fine print it does say to check the colorfastness of the carpet in an inconspicuous area. So now I have this little white circle in the middle of my cream carpet, in the MIDDLE of the living room. nonoicon C'est la vie.

I used it on my cream-colored carpet and had no problem with any white spots. I did use it to clean to entire rug, not just spots. I sprayed, sprinkled and brushed sections of about 3' x 3', and let the whole thing sit for about 40 minutes. It worked great, but I guess if I had used it on a colored carpet, it would have caused white spots for me too.

I read this thread --Skye and Boo have had multiple "accidents" due to changes in their food (I unwisely decided to add variety). I used Nature's Miracle, it helped, but made pinkish stains in my light beige carpet. I bought the Capture and it took out the pink stains. It really worked great.
